tell Feinstein to get it right/ no on rightwing federal judge. action today:
This email just came from people for the american way.
I don't like their stance on election proteciton, but I strongly agree with this action: This federal judge Bush appointee was voted on by the senate judicary committee 9 rpeublicans yes, 9 dems no. Feinstein broke the tie by siding with the right!!!!!!! And she says her constituents didn't complain. (which we certainly did.) So let her know louder this time. Anyone can call, because it is as member of the judiciary, not as a rep of california in this particular issue. It affects all Americans.
info below:

You may remember back in August, when the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 10-9 to send the nomination of Judge Leslie Southwick to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to the full Senate for a vote. Senator Dianne Feinstein sided with Republicans on the committee to cast the deciding vote, and in doing so made a terrible mistake based on flawed logic.

Sen. Feinstein ignored the lessons learned from the Supreme Court confirmations of Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito. But now, she has a chance to be a leader in stopping the confirmation to one of the nation's most powerful courts of someone who lacks a record of commitment to social justice progress.

Civil rights groups and advocates for a fair and independent judiciary are rallying outside of Sen. Feinstein's San Francisco office TODAY to urge her to oppose the confirmation of Leslie Southwick. Please join this effort by contacting Sen. Feinstein's state office nearest you.

The Senate's in recess this week, so let's mobilize as much grassroots pressure as we can on the state offices. Please call, fax or even pay a personal visit to the office nearest you. Talk to Sen. Feinstein's staff and/or drop off a handwritten note urging her to oppose Judge Southwick.

Get more information on the Southwick nomination here:

http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=24117

Find the addresses and contact info for Sen. Feinstein's state offices here:

http://feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=ContactUs.StateOffices

Sen. Feinstein has made the remarkable claim that she has not heard or seen very much grassroots opposition to Southwick from her constituents. While our records show differently, now is the opportunity to let her hear your voice loud and clear. By joining this wave of grassroots action today, we can make sure Sen. Feinstein knows where her constituents stand.

1. Like Fein$tein gives a fuck what we think
She just got re-elected in a landslide. She's going to do whatever she feels like.

3. I'd love to. What do you suggest?

4. get on the phone. Let her know how you feel, once a week. Since she pulled the FISA
stunt, together with the judicial nomination, I call her office constantly. IF you're in california you can organize a group to go to one of her offices and let her know what you think. That is the only thing they hear, when your voice is in their face....

6. Findspine is a lost cause; she's an accident of history
I certainly can't think of anybody who ever benefited more from a double assassination. Had that not happened, it's hard to imagine she ever would have become mayor on her own.

Stodgy to the bone, she's the embodiment of hollow, centrist propriety.

She supports Clinton, too, but that just follows.
