I repeat: Florida was working with the GOP as early as 2006 on the primary.
I will continue to clarify this as long as some here keep blaming the national party.

Florida Democrats worked with the Republicans, and they admitted it.

Florida Dems worked with the Republicans early on.

Nobody realized it, but the storm began gathering in late March 2006. New Florida House Speaker Marco Rubio, a Miami Republican, visited Washington-based Florida reporters and touted a plan to boost Florida's influence in picking presidential nominees by moving the primary earlier than March.

"With all due respect to New Hampshire and Iowa, nowhere are you going to be on a national stage like Florida," Rubio said at the time. "You're going to get questions about Israel, Latin America, immigration. It's the old South, it's Latin, it's Midwestern, it's rural and urban."

Rubio already had Democrats on board.

"Florida Democrats are all for it," Mark Bubriski, spokesman for the Florida Democratic Party, said at the time.

Florida's primary problem

There is truth and there is spin. And there are consequences.

1. There is truth. There is spin. And then... there is truthiness!
Stuff that's true because you want it to be true, because your gut tells you it is true.

There's a lot of truthiness on this issue.

2. I have no clue what you are saying.
But I do know that Florida used propaganda against their own party after admittedly planning the whole thing with the Republicans for over a year at least.

5. ...I'm saying a lot of people just refuse the truth because they like it that way.
Truthiness is a word coined by the comedian Stephen Colbert to describe such behavior. Your logical mind says the truth is something else, but your gut says it's true, so you go with your gut (which in this case says the DNC is a bunch of jerks for pounding on poor helpless Florida and Michigan).

7. Oh, well...
I still don't know who if anyone you were agreeing with or disagreeing with.

I let the words of the party spokesman speak for themselves.

3. They can't run a clean election anyway...

...so perhaps it's best this way.

6. I think I figured out a solution out of all this.
All we have to do is have one of the candidates contest the election, and by the time they finish recounting the ballots, it will be late February.

8. Just reading the media coverage ...
of Dean's visit here today. Not very pretty.

It's really a shame this is happening.

9. It's Not Bad Enough We've Had To Put Up With So Much From D.C.
those of us who live here in Florida, who really ARE Democrats know how little our voice counts.

I can't count the times I've been told to get involved locally... and I did jump into it with all fours for quite some time, but that brick wall sure packs a punch!

I used to say I was living a Trifecta Of Politics because there is the The Idiot, Decider in D.C. and then there was his "little Bro" running this state, AND I was lucky enough to have Katherine "Cruella" Harris as my Representative in Congress! I THOUGHT after 2 of them weren't staring at me in the face everyday that I would see "some" change, but it seems it's only gotten worse!

I may be dating myself, but I remember when I moved here and Reuben Askew was Governor and I remember the older guy, whose name escapes me now, who worked very hard for those in his District, for many many Senior citizens and they really felt good about it! I know later tonight the name will crop up... he was one of the good ones though!

Where's Bob Graham, guess he figured it out and decided that it was useless (I don't blame him) but he did figure it out long before many others did! I hope he's well and enjoying his retirement, he DID earn it! I could be wrong and he may still be out there trying, but since I've stepped away from the Florida scene, I'm kind of out of the loop anyway!

Used to watch it pretty close, but now it only irritates me! In my little part of this state it COULD drive you crazy even if you try real hard to make a change!

10. Pelosi swallowed Florida's spin hook line and sinker. I just give up
You know the expression, make the lie big? More people will believe it?
When the speaker tells that to the CSM, then it must be true.

"Let’s just talk reality. That will be determined by the presidential nominee,” Pelosi told reporters at a luncheon sponsored by the Christian Science Monitor.

She recalled having the job of “compliance review” for the party in 1984, charged with making states adhere to party primary rules.

“I had to go to the states and say if you don’t come within the window, you won’t be seated, and they said, ‘Ha, ha, ha’ because there’s no presidential candidate who’s going to say, `We’re not seating New Hampshire’ and ‘We’re not seating Iowa.’ ”

If the presidential race is contested at the convention, there will be a contest about seating the delegates, she said. Most people think the nominee will be known by early February. Pelosi also said the imbroglio over the primary isn’t the fault of Florida Democrats, who are the ones being sanctioned.

“Let’s be clear about what happened in Florida. The Republican legislature changed the date of the election there and also put a tax issue on the ballot that the Democrats just could not walk away from,” she said. “It wasn’t Florida Democrats who said they wanted to push earlier.”

I feel like I don't care so much about any of it anymore.

11. Pelosi says it is not Florida's fault at all.
So it must be true.
