This Rasmussen article will probably bum out some DUers but...
Where Things Stand (Good News for Democrats)
A Commentary by Douglas Schoen
Wednesday, October 10, 2007

Rasmussen's recent polling suggests compellingly that the Democratic Party maintains an enormously strong advantage over the Republican on all of the indicators that are monitored monthly.

The implication is clear: if an election were held right now, there would be a Democratic sweep at or above the levels seen in 2006.

Overall, the Democrats have held a double digit lead over the Republicans on generic vote for Congress over the past three months. Democratic support has been close to 50% for the past three months while Republican support has not cracked 40%

Also, Democrats hold a lead on nine of the ten issues Rasmussen tracks. On social issues, the lead frequently exceeded 10%.

Further, on party identification, the Democrats lead is a solid 4.5% which is close to where it was before the 2006 midterm elections and well ahead of the virtual dead heat that was in evidence before the 2004 Presidential election.

Finally, each of the leading Democratic Presidential candidates leads all top Republican hopefuls in general election match-ups.

1. Hogwash
Why bait? The article is good, and your editorializing in the sub line sounds like flame bait. I don't know of any DUers who will be "bummed" that we're leading everywhere and would kick every Repub's ass. I know what your underlying message is, but I think it's off-based.

3. Today doesn't seem to be a good day for some here.
Can it get any worse for some? (Or better depending how you want to look at it).

4. Meaning we can choose anyone we want in the primary: the Dem will win.
Which is what I've been saying.

5. I find it insulting your subject line about DUers. I myself might not
prefer some of the dem candidates and do not agree with the DLC Leadership or Pelosi/Reid. However, your taking for granted that I (cannot speak for other DUers) would get bummed out on a poll showing dems doing a sweep of the republicans is totally wrong.

Yes, I am left of the DLC but I in most cases will prefer a dem over a republican not just because of the party but the dem party still has values closer to my point of view than the republican party.

Yes, I am disappointed about the corporate dems as well as the corporate republicans but again I will usually support the dem because the entire party does support more legislation that helps the middle class and below. The republicans hardly ever assist with these causes.

So, no I am not bummed out and I don't take your bait for whatever purpose it is out there for.

6. It was a joke. Lighten up.
Plus, I said "probably" and I didn't single you out or anyone out. I am not a DLC fan or Hillary fan either.

it too early in the morning. No you didn't single me out but you said DUers so I took that to include myself as well.

Have been attacked here before for being critical of Hillary, Pelosi, DLC, etc. so jumpted to quick.

7. All the more reason to actually do something
Edited on Thu Oct-11-07 09:36 AM by Armstead
Okay, so for years we've been hearing "Democrats can't rock the boat oroffend the Republicans and 'swing voters.'" as an excuse for inaction and a timid conservative agenda.

So why not take advantage of this, and actually BE real liberal Democrats again? Why not pursue and agenda and platform of real reform and positive change?

Oh I know....."We cant do that because we might blow our lead...."

It's called Catch 22.
