Poll question: Why do Hillary supporters support her? |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-11-07 05:46 PM by Dawgs
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=3599406&mesg_id=3599406As a follow up to my earlier question, can those who know someone that support Hillary tell me why they support her? As earlier, this is not a Hillary bashing question. I'm genuinely interested in finding out why people would vote for her.

1. She can win, she's a woman, she's a genius |
|
Honestly, she is an extraordinary human being. We need those kinds as president (of course so are all of the contenders for the Dem nomination this year)
But mainly, she can win, she has political capital when she does and despite her flirtations with the Right, at the end of the day she will have done more good than harm. That's all I can really ask for anymore.

2. She's no Genius. She voted for the IWR. |
|
Whether foolishness or calculating politics, definitely not a smart move.
"despite her flirtations with the Right, at the end of the day she will have done more good than harm."
That's what George W hopes will be written in the History books as his Legacy.

3. She's the most qualified? Bill Richardson, Joe Biden, and Dennis Kucinich |
|
have held elected office way longer than she has.

5. If you really want to know... |
|
It's because I think she will be the most effective president of all (Dem & Rep) candidates.
Internationally, she can unlease Bill to fix the major damage Bush has caused with our relations to other countries. Nationally, she can get changes made and PASSED through congress.
Expectations: Some here want a Kucinich new world right away. I'd like to see this country out of the ditch and running on the road first. She gives me the most confidence that she can repair a very bad economy, reputation, trade situation, etc. A wrong move here, when our country is on the edge of the precipice, could be a disaster we don't recover from.
The others may sound better, but I want reality implemented NOT dreams that don't go anywhere.

13. We've had "reality" for the last 25 years |
|
How's it working for ya?
Perhaps Kucinich is too much too soon. But more of the same status quo corportist government and politics is NOT the only alternative to wishful thinking.

6. Some reasons, some strange and some expected. |

Well my mom is a long time Clinton supporter and has always felt a kinship with Hillary as a fellow professional woman in a male dominated sphere.
My friend likes her personally (not sure what specifically just that no policy has been mentioned as of yet).
My one neighbor thinks Hillary is the only Dem tough enough to fight the war on terror(yeah go figure).
The other neighbor feel it is time for a woman in the WH.
A coworker likes her healthcare plan.

9. I think half of them geniunely believe she's the only electable one, |
|
and the other half just embrace her world view and ideology.
That's just an outsider's perspective.

11. Because she is the frontrunner. |
|
The polls are convincing people to vote for her. That is curious to say the least.

17. Because we're all on the DLC payroll, duh. |
|
That would be like 50% of Democrats, which is about 50% of voters, making it 25% of all Americans getting bribed by the DLC, lol.
