My final plea to Al Gore
Dear Mr. Gore,

I have been a lifelong Democrat and champion of progressive causes since I can remember. I have lived in the heart of some of the reddest of red states and stood my ground against the Republicans and their insane policies. I have lost friends and ostracized family members because of my actions and rhetoric defending the Democratic ideology. I believe these past seven years have been the worst in our country’s history. It pains me to think what would have been had the election not been stolen from you in 2000.

The only true bright spot in my life since 2000 has been my wife that is more Liberal than me and the birth of our child. I can’t imagine my son growing up in a country like the one George W. Bush has created. I fear with a Hillary Clinton nomination that is exactly what we will have. She will energize the Republican Party to such a level of exuberant hatred, that her election will become impossible.

I know this next statement will not sit well with most in my party but since the disappointing progress our newly elected majority in Congress has demonstrated since the 2006 election, I have thought about sitting this next election out. I am very disgruntled at my party for not showing the guts to impeach Bush and end the war in Iraq. Out of all of the Democratic candidates, I fault Hillary the most for the war because she voted for it, failed to apologize for her vote, and continues to espouse notions of long term occupation. I have even considered voting Republican or third party candidate as a protest to what I see as a betrayal by my party.

I used to think that it was your prerogative to decide not to run for the presidency again because of your tremendously important campaign to save our planet from global warming. Your accomplishments are great and you are well deserving of your Nobel Peace Prize. However, your progress to date will not be worth much if the Republicans continue to preside in The White House.

The polls that show Hillary with a huge advantage are meaningless. The second you enter the race, my faith and hope will be restored in the Democratic Party and you will have an instantaneous outpouring of monetary and volunteer support that will dwarf all other candidates. Your time is now Mr. Gore to take what was unlawfully taken from you. I know I am one person, but I know there are millions of disgruntled Democrats out there who need their faith restored. You are the only person that can save the country from the Republicans and the Democrats from themselves. Mr. Gore, restore our faith in America.
