Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 06:23 PM by Uncle Joe
reclaim that which was stolen from him and the American People.

I just want to say, don't expect the corporate media to follow suit as they were primarily responsible for trashing, slandering and libeling him for the better part of two years prior to the selection of 2000 while giving Bush a free pass. I imagine it would be tough for them to come out in public and eat crow. As for the task of regaining our Democratic Republic, don't expect the corporate media to aid too much if any in that endeavor, they have their own agenda and it has nothing to do with democracy or justice here in the U.S.A.

Edit for P.S. Thank you for the thread Sushi Bandit.

43. I am in, as always, but I am nervous
because after the Peace Prize was announced it seemed to me that the latest round of statements saying "this doesn't change anything" (with respect to Al's staying out of the race) were very strong statements... if there was no repositioning after this momentous occasion, then what event could possibly change anyone's mind? He's happy, doing a great job, and is being rewarded and listened to. Why do anything else than what's working so well?

He has until the end of the month to jump in, in the opinion of most. That's not a long time to wait for something to "click" and change course, and go after the presidency.

I would really appreciate anyone and everyone's thoughts on this... I could use encouragement but I'm also interested in looking at the raw picture of things.

44. K&R. Think that we desperately need his intelligence and experience, especially now.
But I doubt that he'll choose to run again. Actually, I think that his winning the Nobel Peace Prize makes a second run for the presidency even more unlikely. We may need him, but he has so much going for him just now, is busy and doing something that he loves, so he doesn't need the headaches of dealing with the mess that Bush* has left for whomever succeeds him...:-(

I've signed the petitions, I've written letters, I've voted in online polls . . . Al Gore is my candidate, and if they get him on the ballot in New York, I'm voting for him . . . I pray that he has an epiphany and decides to run . . . he seems to think Hillary is unstoppable, but he is dead wrong . . . if he announces, a lot of the celebrities who've come out for Hillary will quickly switch, imo . . . and start a snowball effect that can't be stopped . . .

Run, Al, Run! . . .

difference...I feel he will. I think he's watching and waiting to see how it goes with Hillary and the rest of the field. Let's hope this year we can make a difference. There are dark clouds swirling everywhere and folks are not going to be happy with the early primaries and the Media picking our candidates. There huge anger out in America...bubbling away that the Media is trying to keep a lid on and try to make this years campaign the 'same old...same old' with the same pundits pontificating and the same media asking the questions. But, under the suface not very deep is an ANGRY American public watching and waiting.

Gore will be there...if there is a way for him to bypass the "machine." That's why keeping up efforts to draft him are so important. Keeping his visibility going. My 2cents about it.

63. Gore has no choice but to run
His grassroots support is gaining strength with his Nobel Peace Prize award. The write-in votes will split the party and give the presidency to Guiliani, the military industrial complex heir-apparent to Bush. And especially if Nader chooses to run again. Hillary has been set up by the MIC to be the runaway candidate, a straw man they are now busily knocking down. KKKarl Rove has it all planned. Only Gore can rescue the U.S. from almost certain descent into a fascistic state.

70. Huge Caveat:
Gore was a gung ho supporter of NAFTA. Some of us still remember that. Gore's a great crusader against global warming, but a great presidential candidate he is NOT!

96. THIS Al Gore for President:

Just kidding! -- THIS Al Gore:

Book Excerpt:

Assault on Reason, by Al Gore

Not long before our nation launched the invasion of Iraq, our longest-serving Senator, Robert Byrd of West Virginia, stood on the Senate floor and said: "This chamber is, for the most part, silent—ominously, dreadfully silent. There is no debate, no discussion, no attempt to lay out for the nation the pros and cons of this particular war. There is nothing. We stand passively mute in the United States Senate."

Why was the Senate silent?

In describing the empty chamber the way he did, Byrd invited a specific version of the same general question millions of us have been asking: "Why do reason, logic and truth seem to play a sharply diminished role in the way America now makes important decisions?" The persistent and sustained reliance on falsehoods as the basis of policy, even in the face of massive and well-understood evidence to the contrary, seems to many Americans to have reached levels that were previously unimaginable.

A large and growing number of Americans are asking out loud: "What has happened to our country?" People are trying to figure out what has gone wrong in our democracy, and how we can fix it.

To take another example, for the first time in American history, the Executive Branch of our government has not only condoned but actively promoted the treatment of captives in wartime that clearly involves torture, thus overturning a prohibition established by General George Washington during the Revolutionary War.
