Bush v. Kerry: The Power Elite's Dream Ballot
By MICHAEL COLBY

If you hear gleeful giggling from behind the curtain shielding the political elites from the mere masses, you're not alone. There's a party going on and we haven't been invited. It's a presidential election party, where the puppeteers of our democracy are celebrating an upcoming election that they can't lose. It's a contest between two of their own.

<snip>

Before the delusional Democrats out there start peppering me with hostile emails about the absolute necessity of getting "anybody but Bush" in the White House, just stop yourselves long enough to consider these facts: Kerry supported Bush's war on Iraq; Kerry supported Bush's tax cuts; Kerry hasn't proposed one major social or environmental initiative in over 20 years in the U.S. Senate; Kerry hasn't put forward any meaningful policy initiatives in his campaign for the presidency regarding jobs or healthcare. Kerry's campaign seems to be all about proving that he qualifies as "anybody but Bush." And all that takes is a pulse.

I hope this has not been previously posted; I have not been here in a while.

In accordance with the posting rules, note that there is a quotation in the above article from David Brooks, a "conservative NYT columnist." However, I believe Counterpunch's position in the L-R spectrum (if that means anything) is generally acceptable to DU.

If you think the Power Elite will stop any Democrat who truly wants fundamental change, then shouldn't you embrace a candidate like John Kerry if the Power Elite is comfortable with him?

Don't you want Bush out of office?

I think it's a left-wing article, but I don't care if the Power Elite likes John Kerry. We need all the support we can get to get Bush out of office.

11. Middle-class Midwesterner for any Democrat in 2004. Send Bush to Crawford.
Bush stole the 2000 election. He doesn't belong in office now. He doesn't belong in office for another term, either.

12. Will, you just don't understand! Nader was right after all...
There is no difference between Bush and Gore and Kerry. They are all three the same. Repeat ten times, vote third party, and forget about the Supreme Court and all the dead people.

It's unbelievable that some people haven't woken up in the last three years.

Those are important issues, but there are other important issues like mini-nukes.

If the US builds mini-nukes, useable nuclear weapons, so will other countries.

Bush wants to build mini-nukes. Kerry is opposed.
