To Kerry Supporters----when you read this transcript....
Edited on Thu Feb-19-04 03:08 AM by slinkerwink
Alright, I concede that Hoffa might be joking, but we have seen articles where people that worked for Dean claimed that Dean was for another position, completely misrepresenting him. You have to make sure this doesn't happen with Kerry.

Look at the transcript. What Hoffa says comes as a shock to those who aren't watching the show. Keep control of the people that work for your candidate, or else we'll hear a lot of misreporting going on like we did with Dean.

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4302564/

EDIT: If this is true or not, then Kerry needs to clarify this!

Perhaps you should actually watch the clip as opposed to just reading the transcript.

2. This isn't reassuring.
I hope this is not true. Especially since he will most likely be the nominee. If it is true, then Dean was right, we will be choosing the lesser of two evils. I really wish the media didn't perform their damned character assasination on him.

If so then perhaps the Senator needs to publicly make that very clear.

39. Sorry Slinker and Ibegurp
Kerry does NOT need to clear up any joking statement by James Hoffa that was pure sarcasm given Kerry's prior positions.
The only thing that needs to be cleared up is one's own incorrect (be it deliberate or accidental) interpretation of what they are reading. Otherwise, this thread is nothing more than intentional dishonest propaganda profiting off of nothing other than the faulty reading abilities of others.

Kerry voted against Gale Norton as Interior Secretary, the Uber-Libertarian.

http://www.issues2000.org/2004/John_Kerry_Energy_+_Oil.htm

ANWR won't provide any oil for 20 years

Q: On one hand you say there is a national security need to reduce dependence imported oil, while on the other hand you oppose drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska?

KERRY: The Arctic Wildlife Refuge won't provide a drop of oil for 20 years. And the total amount of oil, if it were to come through at the level that some people in the oil industry predict, will amount to about a 1% to 2% reduction in the total dependency of the United States on oil.

The League of Conservation Voters and Robert F. Kennedy didn't endorse him for polluting the environment. They endorsed him because he has a *stellar* record when it comes to environmental issues. The guy even voted against allowing nuclear chemicals in Nevada!!!

it's wrong to do so in this political climate. What if Kerry was joking about being against abortion? That would be totally inappropriate to do, and would alienate a lot of Democrats.

46. PLEASE READ THIS, SLINKER

62. What does one have to do with the other?
I think you need to be careful about reading what is actually in front of you. Otherwise, one day the sign says "STOP", you see "GO" and bad things will happen.

Posting something stated in jest and doing this is really unacceptable.

I'm sorry Dean bowed out. Thus far, I have been pretty sympathetic. Posts like this, deliberate in thier patently dishonest intent make me want to pour grain alcohol in the wound except to do so, I'd be being hurtful to others who would not dream of pulling such a stunt.

Kerry's position on the environment is FAR clearer and MORE well documented than your candidate's was.

Not to mention that
rightly or wrongly, there are a lot of people who see Kerry as willing to take any position necessary to position himself. This kind of stuff feeds into that perception. Not wise to joke about that on a news show when the transcript can be posted without the context of facial expressions, sound, and body language to make the situation clear.

They were laughing because (whether Hoffa was being sarcastic or not) it was implied that Kerry was basically telling Hoffa everything and anything he wanted to hear to gain support.

Whether Hoffa was being sarcastic or not I think is a little more subjective.

115. Operating off of memory but the original post is on my harddrive
People got posts removed (their own fault) for the game you deliberately played with this article as is witnessed by many many posts by you on this thread.

I'd like to think you didn't realize that might be a consequence and I'd like to think you would never deliberately misinterpret an article then post it in order to bait people into personally attacking you and I would like to think you wouldn't hit alert on them as a means of setting them up.

I'd really like to think that.

I'd like to but your many posts on this thread indicate that you KNEW the interpretation was incorrect and ran with it anyway until forced to edit and save face.
