Particularly when speaking to a "faith group" he uses a lot of the same mannerisms, inflections in his voice, and language. I wonder if it is deliberate.

2. Sometimes yes and sometimes no.... It appears to be deliberate.
I first noticed when he was in Selma, Alabama earlier this year.

3. Yes, and there's nothing wrong with that.
If I weren't a white guy, I'd try to develop a speaking style like King.

It's true that, as pointed out on Aaron McGruder's The Boondocks, King would have a hard time being heard in the time of R. Kelly and Sharpton. But what he said, and the way he said it, remain relevant and essential to our nation.

Since almost everybody develops their style from someone else - speaking, thought, and the like - why not choose the best example available?

It's nice to hear a public speaker who can project such inspiration.

Is that a bad thing?

15. So am I. I think you might have misunderstood a bit.
Many politicians can get you to believe what they say while they say it, so long as they have some charisma and good speechwriters. But it's the rare breed of politician who is so convincing that you know when you listen to them that they actually believe what they're saying.

Say, Hillary. Hillary can talk and I think, "yes, that is generally a good idea, Hillary." But I know that she doesn't really believe a word she says--she's just sticking to her well-rehearsed script.

But Obama, when he gets off on a real tear...you not only believe that what he's saying is true, you believe that he's honestly telling you because he believes so strongly in what he's saying. It's a sort of honest charisma that I think we've been sorely missing.

16. No offense, I like Barack...
but the man puts me to sleep. Very mono-tone, "droney" delivery when I hear him speak. He pauses a lot also. He doesn't motivate me at all. I wish he did. But...no. I've tried listening to many, many speeches, and he never gets my juices going. In addition, he seems to speak in generalities, not specifics. I'm not saying he hasn't spoke in specifics, I've just never heard too many.

I'd like to see him as Joe Biden's VP. Then, with that White House experience under his belt, he'd be perfect for the main job.

20. The Repugs accused both (Bill) Clinton and Gore
of taking on "black preacher mannerisms" when speaking in front of black faith groups as well. It doesn't matter to me whether it's deliberate or not; there are certainly worse people to emulate.

21. Your post is so full of Bull shit till it is not funny. I guess you are saying when
Preachers preach or speak it public they are doing it deliberate. It seems to me you are very uneducated about African Americans. You are showing that you are very Naive to how they speak. It is natural for African Americans to speak a certain way when they get on a roll. You need to go down south and visit an African American church to get educated.

However, That Bit that Hillary pulled in Selma was nothing but pandering to the African Americans. If you would have hit a blog site when that happen, you would have seen a lot of pissed off African Americans.
