Edwards was supposed to fold like a" house of cards", and Still in The Hunt..why?
http://news.nationaljournal.com/articles/071015nj1.htm

COLUMBUS, Ky. -- John Edwards came to this Civil War town, 40 miles southwest of Paducah, to fulfill a promise and to make a point. Columbus, whose population would barely fill a movie theater, had won an online contest, defeating such cities as Los Angeles and Seattle, for the right to host an Edwards campaign visit.

When Obama entered the race, Edwards's candidacy was widely expected to collapse like a house of cards. That hasn't happened.

3. Hey there, waiting for hope. Yep. They do. A lot of union people have
heard John Edwards in small (and some large) venues and they come away persuaded that they've known him all their lives.

5. That's how I feel -
He speaks for me on so many levels, especially to the Mother in me. My kids are everything and the vision he has laid out is the American Dream I want for them.

6. There it is. As fair and true a statement of allegiance as can be between
a voting citizen and a public servant.

Bravo.

4. Besides the writer of this piece, who said Edwards's campaign

was "going to fold like a house of cards?" I never heard that before.

9. Here's my memo to the Edwards:
Never give up, never surrender.

Okay, it's not original, but it gets the point across.

8. The article is an interesting and full anaylsis of Edwards strength, and that it is a credit to him
that he didn't "fold"

I found the article interesting from the perspective that in the very early days, Edwards had staff who bolted, because Obama stepped in. Edwards has had a lot of challenges to deal with, and is still in the running.

He hasn't received much in the way of respect from the MSM, and as discussed yesterday.........VERY LITTLE, TO NO COVERAGE ON HIS ENDORSEMENTS.

12. Who said he was supposed to fold like a house of cards?
... when Obama entered the race. That is an unsubstantiated quote, and not even the conventional wisdom ... at least I've never heard it. So I'd have to count it into what we call a "straw man." To say he would fold but hasn't is to impart some kind of "drive"--but no one said he'd fold (at least before the first caucus even).

Next let me comment on the "online" contest PR. It's PR. As is so much of this campaign.

Lastly, my analysis of what stands most in the way of John Edwards is the fact that Democrats traditionally don't like their losers. And he's pretty much lost three times: he got only North and South Carolina in the 04 primaries (his own native states), he lost with Kerry (whether it was fair or not) in the presidential elections, and he lost by not running again for the Senate in NC. So this is really his last chance in politics for a while: he either wins this, or it's back to the hedge funds.

13. It may be true that Edwards hasn't folded exactly, but..
.. he's not in the hunt either.

Hillary has been annointed.

14. It is so easy to fall into the trap of Hillary's inevability......I do it at least 10 times a day
myself.

But then I will read something inspiring about Edwards, and think that the jury (primary voters) has not rendered a verdict yet.

We must all work to keep the faith.

It ain't over til it's over.
