Remember The Media Crap About Edwards Haircut; Check out Romney's Makeup Cost!
Edited on Tue Oct-16-07 05:28 PM by EV_Ares
Remember how many times we heard about Edwards' haircut cost. How come we never heard about Romney from Tweety & the others on his spending $300.00 on makeup before a debate.

Mitt Romney

The former Massachusetts governor, the first Mormon candidate with a chance to win and the wealthiest candidate in the race, gets high marks for his 1950s movie-star looks, impeccable grooming and conservative suits. His clothing choices convey his political philosophy and his corporate credentials, says spokesman Alex Burgos. "It goes beyond attire, it (signals) that he's ready to bring the same approach he had in business to promoting change and innovation to Washington."

Romney criticized Edwards on the haircuts, but then it came out that he had spent $300 on a makeup job before a debate. "They all live in glass houses, they all live lifestyles where they are exposed to (hairdressers, makeup artists, stylists)," says Laura Schwartz, a former events director for the Clinton White House, now a political strategist and commentator for Fox News.

7. it goes from attire to satire LOL
Talk about a rich Yuppie criticizing Edwards.

We have two rich men here. One cares alot more about the less fortunate than the other.

Clue: Romney appears a political legacy of Herbert Hoover.

2. In fairness to Romney,
he does not make an issue out of TWO AMERICA's. Romney never said
he is for the poor people. Whereas Edwards makes that his campaign
slogan.

4. You beat me to it.
Edwards made a distinction, strictly to gain political points, and unfortunately for him, he came out on the wrong side of his own comparison.

5. Well, Edwards comes from pretty damned humble roots, IIRC.
If not for some hard work and no doubt more than a little good luck on his part, he would be a lowly mill worker, or possibly unemployed these days.

Edwards is a self-made man who has not forgotten where he came up from. I guess some people have a problem with that.

10. I thought
his father was the floor foreman and then became a mill manager.

That shouldn't take away from what Edwards has made of his own life, which is impressive, but I don't think it adds to his story to make his father out to be an oppressed, lowly mill worker, if he only started at the bottom.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I don't want to hold a view that isn't supported by the facts.

Thanks.

with money sneer at.

Sort of like my paternal grandfather. Yes, he was a deputy sheriff. And yes, he was chief of police. In a teeny tiny town on the middle of nowhere in NV, with maybe three men under him, lol. And a poor sheep rancher who lost almost everything but his teeny tiny ranch land in the Depression.

NOT RICH.

6. What difference does that make?
Just because you are "for poor people" doesn't mean you can't spend money, does it?

Or is there some new rule I haven't heard about yet?

Only people who live a pauper's life can work towards the betterment of others? Is that it? :eyes:

8. Absolutely, I always did say it was BS on making an issue out of
Edwards. Just like they make an issue out of Gore using a private jet because he is an environmentalist. They would love it if he used a stagecoach to go to all of his business appointments around the world. It is nothing more than media bias. I think the reason we stopped hearing about John and his haircut is because they found out about Romney and his makeup expense.

15. Have you heard of Ghandi? He lived by example...
Ghandi was very rich but lived like a poor man because
he wanted to live by example in helping the poor. When
you keep shouting you are for the poor but then live a
lavish style with $600 haircuts and 6000 sq ft house, you
expose yourself to the charge of hypocrisy.

3. The reason you haven't heard much about it is because Romney isn't running
as a populist. It's the hypocrisy angle that gives the story the drama that the press NEEDS in order to sell their product. A multi-millionaire running as a Republican spending gobs of money on stupid shit is just not much of a story. Howard Dean was fairly wealthy, and one story about him that got a lot of press was the legend that he only had like one suit. That's an angle the press can go with.

11. It has never been an issue with me how much Edwards spends on grooming.
I know it hurts him because it is made to make him look shallow but, for me, it is not an issue. His character and positions are of importance to me.
