3. NYTimes says it's the casey Foundation.
"The letter was purchased by the Eugene B. Casey Foundation, a $294 million foundation in Gaithersburg, Md., that has given money to a wide range of organizations, including the Washington Opera and the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. In a statement, the foundation said its purchase was intended to demonstrate its belief in freedom of speech and “to support Rush Limbaugh, his views and his continuing education of us.”"

6. MGKrebs, you may have caught something I didn't expect.
From your link.....

"Marcus S. Owens, a lawyer who until 2000 headed the division of the Internal Revenue Service that oversees charities and foundations, said the Casey foundation might be liable for taxes because it would have difficulty demonstrating that the purchase of the letter furthered a charitable purpose. “They’d have to establish the link between the transfer of money for that letter and promoting free speech, and that’s going to be tough,” Mr. Owens said."

8. I know

The lawyer was talking about the item and it's purpose to the foundation. If the was purchased under the Foundation name and not Betty herself.

And then sent it right back to Harry Reid so he could frame his crowning achievement as Majority Leader.

btw when are they voting on that resolution condemning Rush for the "phony soldiers" attack? Or do they only condemn the Democratic base?

12. I am thinking there was a lot of "bidding up" going on...

but the $ goes to charity so I'm not all that disposed to condemn the purchaser.

It is just incredible that Limbaugh made enough of a stink about this more as self promotion than anything else.

I wonder if he got an "ineligable" or rejection letter from the Nobel Committee about his supposed "nomination"...now THAT would be worth every cent...

13. Gee, Rush didn't mention that...
...she's an Obama supporter...

http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_101907/content/01125110.guest.html

I'm assuming that she is opposed to the war?

Hmmm...maybe Rush didn't want to try to explain how she doesn't conform to his tedious timeworn canard that you can't oppose the war AND support the troops...
