Poll question: How has your view of Senator Clinton evolved over the past 6 months?
Edited on Sat Oct-20-07 10:08 AM by burythehatchet
As you have followed her campaign, do you find yourself liking her more of disliking her more than previously.

I edited the last two choices for more clarity.

And Romney always looks so nice. He has great hair, and that voice...not a cackle to be found.

Since researching her and others, I've moved her to my No. 1 pick, so I'd say I like her a lot more than six months ago.

17. She wasn't my favorite to begin with. About mid-pack. Then the funny money things started.
Now she's dead last.

Too much funny money floating around.

I heard a story on NPR from the NY times yesterday about all this money she got from Chinatown, which has never been a resource for political fundraising before. EVER.

But somehow, all these recent immigrants from ONE province in China are all ponying up MAJOR dollars. And even if they weren't working poor: dishwashers, laundry service, house cleaners, a thousand dollars a head is a lotta money.

Many of these folks aren't citizens, some of them even illegals. And the ones that are citizens, don't generally vote.

I'm sorry, but my first thought was: Somebody with influence, both in Chinatown and the original Chinese province, is funneling huge sums of money through these folks, so there won't be a traceable connection.

I realize Grover Cleveland wasn't a horrible president, he was at least more competent than his predecessor, but I can't help it. I don't want Hillary Cleveland in the White house.

19. "...as a Presidential candidate" -- maybe that is assumed?
"No change - I've always disliked her as a Presidential candidate"

She has a decent progressive voting record as a Senator. I strongly, strongly disagree with her attitudes about use of the military and because of that and the fact that I do NOT want any more d-y-n-a-s-t-y I've always disliked her as a Presidential candidate.

now than a few months ago. It started with her hedging about her vote on declaring war and her meeting with Rupert Murdoch and the subsequent great reports in the MSM cinched it for me. As Bush said...this isn't my first rodeo. I saw this done before.

25. Like is such an insipid word
It really isn't adequate to express my view of any politician. People voted for Bush because they liked him, and look where that got us. Hillary's campaign has removed any doubts I may have had about her competence and her ability to get elected. I always knew she was smart enough. What I still haven't figured out is whether she can be trusted with the Presidency. Is she enough of a patriot to surrender some of the powers that Bush has arrogated to the presidency. Will she get us out of Iraq? How is she going to deal with climate change and energy shortages? If she's our candidate I'll vote for her. I'd like to be able to do so with some confidence that once in office, she'll do the right thing.

29. I wasn't crazy about her before
but I'm even less so as time goes on. The financial connections bother me; the Mark Penn thing really bothers me, given what I now know about his connections with Blackwater; and, frankly, her most vocal supporters here on DU turn me off even more. No offense, but you people (and you know who you are) could learn some things about winning people over.

30. This poll is too limiting. I am truly unsure. We really should get away
from the certain like/dislike choices. We need the other one, "unsure at this point." I am considering both her strong and weak points at this time. If the primary here were held tomorrow I would vote for Edwards. Since it is not, and our primary is of no consequence anyway, I still support him but if he doesn't make it I have to look at the others who may, and that certainly will be Hillary.

I am frustrated greatly by these polls on DU...

and I can't figure out why you bring up "emotional balance." It doesn't even make sense (rational sense that is, perhaps your perception is the emotional response here, eh?).

31. I KNOW What MSM Is Doing, But Don't Know How To Stop Them...
but if they think their constant PUFFING up of Hillary is GOOD for her, I feel they should think twice about it! I'm hearing it more and more, that people are SICK of being told that "we already have" chosen our nominee!

But then, MSM may actually "know" what they are doing! Think about it... we get told over and over until we want to scream and given how much of the BIG media outlets are OWNED by Repukes, they may "on target" and are just doing ANOTHER job on the american people!!

Who knows, I've become so cynical anymore I have to stop watching and coming here like I used to! I refuse to walk the walk or talk the talk! My comments may not make sense to many, but sure make a LOT of sense to me! I seriously doubt the powers that be really give a rats ass about "the people" and just continually think "GREEN" and NOT the Al Gore "GREEN" either! Its the green that sticks to their grubby fingers!

I could say so much more, but I won't!

35. I am less concerned about her now
HRC's supporters are more likely to articulate their position here on DU then her haters are. That gives me pause. I have read many threads where her supporters offers evidence of her tasty goodness, while most of her haters ignore these posts, and offer nothing but insults.

It seems to me that her biggest flaw is that she trusted Bush. For me, this is one of the only arguments I have heard against her that contains logic.

To listen to many of the folks at DU, you'd think Hillary was just inches to the left of George W. Bush. But this poll suggests otherwise:

The following are polls from progressive groups, rating Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, on how often they vote for progressive issues. For each group, http://www.theleftcoaster.com/archives/011142.php

Clinton Vs. Barack Obama (progressivepunch)

Environment 92% 100%
Fair Taxation 97% 100%
Family Planning 88% 80%
Government Checks on Corporate Power 95% 97%
Healthcare 98% 94%
Housing 100% 100%
Human Rights & Civil Liberties 82% 77%
Justice for All: Civil and Criminal 94% 91%
Labor Rights 91% 91%
Making Government Work for Everyone, Not Just the Rich or Powerful 94% 90%

I haven't liked her since she took her pot shot at Tammy Wynette and then continued to stand by her man. Most women I know would have taken a pot, beaten him in the head with it, and tossed him out the door.
