"I'm George W. Bush and I approve this message..." |

The fact that * will have to say this at the end of every negative ad against Kerry or Edwards may expose this attacks for the cheap shots that they are. Didn't the "I approve this message" thing help to hurt Gephardt in Iowa when he ran negative ad against Dean?

1. He may be able to skirt around that... |
|
...by having other interest groups take care of the negative attack ads, while he personally does the "positive" ones.

But that means most of his war chest won't be spent attacking Edwards or Kerry.

4. At least we have those covered |

6. No, it doesn't negate that argument. |
|
There are many activities that 527's can't do.
They have their 527's, we have ours.
They have their massive campaign warchest, and we need one as well.
Or to use a metaphor, they have two howitzers, we can't battle them with one howitzer and a pop gun.

5. I hope there's a way to make that tricky |

Perhaps he can be asked the question - "Mr. President, do you approve of the negative ads? If not, do you now denounce them and demand that they stop immediately?"
