Bonner's Hypocrisy and Keith Olbermann |
|
Last night, Keith Olbermann talked about how yesterday a vote was held on whether to censure the words of Pete Stark. I was very happy that Olbermann pointed out the double standard used with Stark and other Republicans. Olbermann used the example of Bonner, which was great but I think he could have gone further.
There have been a number of Republican who have made comments that were at least out of line. I contend it is worse to make like of what is happening to soldiers and what they are doing than to insult the President. A few years ago there was a Republican who, in response to people complaining about the war, made the statement that it was not that big of a deal that America was losing just one soldier a day. Did Bonner push to have his words censured? What about Rush Limbaugh? Did Bonner rush to have Limbaugh's words censured when he called soldiers who speak out against the war phoney soldiers? There have been a number of other Republican who have made light of what is happening in Iraq, yet Bonner said nothing about them.
It would be nice if someone with the technology and knowledge would make a video ad pointing out the double standard being used by Bonner and the Republicans. It would be good to see the list of Republicans, what they said, and the difference in reaction to what they said and to what Democrats said.

I should have edited my words better. I know Stark is not a Republican. I was trying to point out the double standard being used for Democrats and Republicans. Republicans can make light of what is happening to troops in Iraq, but Democrats cannot insult the President. I should have omitted others and just wrote Republicans.

6. Congress can censure its own members |
|
Rush Limbaugh is not a member of Congress (thank God!!) He is a private citizen, and what he said may have been reprehensible, but it's within his First Amendment rights to say it.
Who was the Republic who made the statement that losing one soldier per day is "no big deal?" That should have been dealt with ON THE SPOT!
