Poll question: Clark supporters: Have you contributed to Kerry since Clark dropped out?
Just trying to get a feel for how strong the Clark supporter for Kerry thing is. Forgive me for asking.

48. "not yet" should have been one of the options.
"I will when he gets the nomination" might also have been useful.

3. I was thinking about doing so...
But then we watched his (cough, cough!) victory speech for the Wisconsin Primary on Tuesday. Figured we'd wait until he got himself a better speechwriter--AND a better speech DELIVERY! :eyes:

B-)

4. Interesting question, I'm glad it was asked
I'm also curious if Clark supporters have contributed money to Clark since he has dropped out. I am curious mainly because since my guy has also dropped, I am hearing rumors of a 500,000 debt and wondering how common it is for people to still give when they aren't really getting anything for the donation.

I am also curious if those Clark supporters who have given to the Kerry campaign are bothered at all that their donations may be used to pay the debt Kerry incurred in campaigning against Clark.

7. I think it's common to give after a campaign has ceased to exist
I maxed out with Clark, so I can't give anything else. And, I'm not concerned about contributing to Kerry....the race is to the WH and seeing the chimp de-throned.

20. Would it be legal....?
Would it be legal to find a Kerry supporter willing to contribute to the Clark campaign, in exchange for a contribution to the Kerry campaign?

Right now, this is about the only way I'll be contributing to Kerry.

Also, does anyone know if all of Clark's debts have been paid? I'd hate for him to be in the hole, on our account.

I did pop for another $100 for Wes after his announcement to help defray some of the campaign debt. I also responded to an email from Wes to help out Ben Chandler (D) in a KY congressional special election.

One more time to Clark, and a small amount to Ben Chandler, because Clark asked us to (and he won! whoohoo!)

I sent some to Charlie Rangel as well.

Kerry's gonna have to earn any more support than just my vote.

of paying off the debt he incurred while running against Clark...it just doesn't feel right.

We are maxed out on our contributions to Clark's campaign so we can't help him anymore. If we weren't maxed out and I received a personal plea from Wes Clark himself for some funds....how could I say no? :loveya:

I don't have a connection to Kerry & I don't feel I owe him anything.

And I'm still having a problem with the race he ran against Clark;

Edwards & Shelton also gives me a problem.

But I will vote for the nominee.

I probably will after he becomes the presumptive nominee to help build the between conventions war chest for the Dem candidate. I've donated recently to Ben Chandler and Charlie Rangel as Wes suggested.

While I think that Kerry stacks up better against Bush than Edwards, I'm rather agnostic between the two of them. I'll actively canvas and donate to the nominee.

I threw a little more to Edwards, but they both reaped the financial benefit of Clark's drop-out, as far as VolcanoJen is concerned. :-)

All said, I've lost track, but I'm pretty sure I've given more to Edwards than anyone. Something about him... just gets the nickles and dimes out of me. :-)

38. I think you have hit upon a key element
People want more than lipservice. Clark has inspired his followers, has developed some very strong noble positions, and Kerry or any current candidate, can't just say "I admire Clark" and expect the followers/voters/supporters to start writing checks. Tangible evidence that the admiration is tranlating into policy is necessary. The best way to provide that evidence is to come out and say "This man will have a place in my administration if he accepts."

Until then, it is all words.

42. Clark and Kerry campaigns had a very cordial relationship.
That was the problem. The pros couldn't wait to "merge" with the Kerry folks, just like the guy heading the Dean campaign.

The grassroots people who backed Clark and Dean from the outset, they are a little less cordial. The Dean folks don't see much reason to change their point of view regarding Kerry. Certainly, the Dean folks around DU don't seem to.

As to Clark people? Most will support the Democratic nominee but not that many are anxious to jump onto the Kerry bandwagon. And according to some reports, the Kerry campaign is no happier with them than the pros running the Clark campaign were. They'll take our money but after that, well, they'll call us. Honest. They will. Abso-positi-lutely!

Just my opinion, of course. I don't speak for anyone but myself.

Just an American citizen.

49. Cordial?
The Kerry folk were not particularly cordial in NH. They were leafletting Clark events, doing visibility at Clark rallies, called Clark a republican, and sent out negative lit to voters.

Not exactly hostile but a far cry from cordial.

45. Cordial relationships between the campaigns
do not always translate into support for the other candidate. And it certainly doesn't translate into immediate passion - especially not enough passion to let loose of any of my hard-earned money at the present time. After the nominee is chose and the GE battle heats up, I expect to be working hard for our nominee and contributing money when I can. Right now, the passion just isn't there. Not sure when it'll come.

60. We're not the Clark campaign
We are Clark's supporters and we are independent minded individuals who make our own decisions. Clark is free to throw his support to Kerry, I never expected him to do any differently if he dropped out, but we are free not to follow, or to follow in our own good time and according to our own judgement.

I for one, am not yet ready to follow the General into the Kerry camp.

I will fully support the Democratic nominee.

I would say that I probably have a slight preference to Kerry over Edwards, but not enough to qualify as a Kerry supporter.
