Precinct and County Democratic officials check in here
Hi, y'all. We have our precinct caucuses this Saturday morning. Can't wait!

We will be working from the grassroots level upward to send a message to Haley Barbour and George W. Bush that Mississippi will not settle for being a sure-bet Republican state any longer. We are revitalizing our Democratic infrastructure and will be doing massive outreach all Spring and Summer.

How bout you? Are you helping your local Democrats?

1. Going to my first meetup
next week. It'll be the first time I've ever even taken the first step to be involved (other than voting). Louisiana has no reson to vote for GW. Big Oil has done nothing but move all their jobs to Houston. In fact, if they could build a giant straw and suck all the oil in Louisiana out from Houston I'm sure they'd do that too.

Obviously, I'm not from Mississippi, but oddly enough I'll be getting married in Woodville, MS in a few months. I'll put the word out there too on the happy day.

3. Nope
Her parent's live across the state line in Louisiana, but go to church in Woodville. The priest is actually a cousin of her mother. It's gonna be a bootleg wedding.

4. Precinct delegate - MI
If you want change in the Democratic party then you must run as a precinct delegate...you will never get a say in anything unless you do. Check with your state's Dem party for info on how to do it.

5. BTW--I like the Mayberry picture
Oddly enough, every time I read or hear someone say Skull and Bones I imagine it being said in a high pitched Barry Fife voice (Skull and Bones! Skull and Bones! Skull and Bones!)

6. Precinct capt. in NM
We turned out 62% of Dems to vote in our primary. 80% in 2002. If you work hard and have help, there is no reason for low Democratic turnout.

Sorta fun: astonishing the State Democratic Chair, when she expected the turnout for the primary to be about 15%!! We had the best turnout of any precinct in the state!!

10. Yes...those are our plans...
We are going to do some MAJOR voter motivation work. Haley Barbour just announced his intentions to cut public education, Medicaid, and other program funding.

We will publicize the hell out of this and tie it to Bush's plan to cut social services as a part of his tax refund plan...at any rate, we are going to piss folks off and get them to WANT to go to the polls.

I am up for precinct chair on Saturday morning...have always been a delegate, but am going to open the meeting as temporary chair Saturday morning, and am hoping to carry that into permanent chair. Say a prayer for me. :-)

:toast: to you HARD and SUCCESSFUL work as precinct captain!!!
