ok... now we see the real agenda of the book on President Ford...
Edited on Mon Oct-29-07 07:13 AM by wyldwolf
According to the book, as reported in USA Today: ""President Clinton and his allies asked former president Gerald Ford to help them head off impeachment charges in 1998, according to a new book on Ford out Tuesday. Ford did not think Clinton's affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky rose to the level of impeachment. Ford told Clinton he would not work on his behalf unless Clinton admitted he lied under oath about the Lewinsky affair to a grand jury, the book by veteran journalist Thomas DeFrank says. 'I won't do that,' Clinton said, according to Ford. 'I can't do that.' "

Believe it? OK, next...

Related story in ABC News' Political Punch blog -- Ford thought highly of Giuliani: " 'I think Giuliani is an electrifying guy,' Ford told Daily News Washington bureau chief Tom DeFrank in May 2006. 'He's a great speaker. He's had a good record of winning in New York City, and he can be tough.' Asked for a prediction as to who would be the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, Ford smiled and said,'"Well, if they want to win, Giuliani. He's really good, he's articulate -- he's just a leader.' "

1. Ford is one of the most irrelevant clowns that ever sat in the
White House. His biggest accomplishment? Pardoning Richard Nixon.

2. Lyndon Johnson said it best...
..."That boy (Ford) can't fart and chew gum at the same time..."

3. So the man who pardoned Nixon weighs in on the clenis from ...
beyond the grave and he speaks highly of the two timing, cousin marrying, cross dresser. What a surprise to see that Rudy's philandering doesn't quite rise to the level of offense that Bill's did.

4. I used to have a modicum of respect for Ford...just because.
Just because of what, I don't know. He seemed like a decent-enough guy at the time, thrust into an ugly situation. But I was much less the cynic then. While I considered myself "political," I was actually just a political rube in the Viet Nam/Nixon era. Ironically, back then I read or watched anything that was produced about the war and Watergate. It was a task made easier by virtue of the fact that we only had the three networks' televised news programs which, along with newspapers, actually hired journalists and reporters, not mere wire service transcribers. Now I have tons of choices, and if I relied upon any of those old sources for information all I'd get are government-issued press releases delivered by officially approved Telepromptr readers.

It seems obvious that nobody really gets the presidency by accident or "will of the people." Ford was just another useful stooge, but it really points up his ignorance (or willingness to play along?) when he refers to that clown Rudy Giuliani as a LEADER! He's articulate? I suppose if your idea of "articulate" is a crisp, clear "9/11" message.

Pffft. Ford was a feeble old dolt biding his time. He done what he was told. Now lots of people are in line to make a buck with the help with the help of a curiosly-timed bio -- however relatively minor it may seem apart from all the other pro-Giuliani bombardments. God Bless Corporate America.

5. If you saw Meet the Press Sunday, it would be hard to justify saying that the book is about Clinton.

It is about Ford's role in the impeachment/resignation of Nixon.
