Media to Dean: “We ruined yer campaign, nyah nyah nyah nyah, nyah nyah!”
They rub it in really hard:

GWEN IFILL: Matea, I understand that the Dean press corps decided to give the governor a little farewell gift in advance of his farewell today, a t-shirt that said establishment media and on the back, we have the power.

<snip>

MATEA GOLD: You know actually, Gwen, when we gave him that t-shirt yesterday he said the establishment media trumps the internet but not for long. It was something he complained about a lot.

On one hand he would say if you're the frontrunner, you're running for president you have to be able to take the heat. But he also felt that he was treated unfairly. He would complain that his comments were taken out of context, that people could do searches on Lexus Nexus and pull a fragment out of something he said and misrepresent it.

It's something that really frustrated him. I think it speaks to his inexperience on the national stage and really being prepared to deal with the bright spotlight that came with running for president. We decided that we would take on the big name establishment media that he so often teased us with on the trail.

3. yesterday's Plain Dealer
Defiant Dean drops out, with picture of him with mouth open looking like he is shouting, and not from the press conference. I will never forget the MTP of Jan 11. It was gay bashing treated as hilarity. And not one press watcher complained. Am I bitter, hell yes.

4. Their subtle digs were so obvious ...
A phrase I recall from the initial AP report ...

"... the Dean Scream speech, which he isn't likely to ever live down."

Sounds like a challenge.

6. Their euphemism for media bias: "The bright spotlight"
"It's something that really frustrated him. I think it speaks to his inexperience on the national stage and really being prepared to deal with the bright spotlight that came with running for president. "

Nope, it wasn't us harping on small details. We were just that impartial, light-giving machine... like a spotlight, and Dean couldn't 'deal' with it (he talked back at them).

These are the things the Deanites should reorganize around:

* MEDIA REFORM

* VOTING RIGHTS

8. Ha-Ha-Ha.. aren't they funny?
NOT!!

That's what bugs me the most.. THEY do have the power and no matter what the people want, the media decides for us..what we will see..how it will be spun..and what they outcome willl be..

It makes my teeth bleed when I hear MEDIA people saying stuff like..

"He/she couldn't get his/her message out in the media".. WHOSE fault is THAT??

They sit around "complaining" that someone did not get the proper coverage, when THEY were the ones covering the event..

10. I was against each of the media distortions, but I didn't support Dean
I was against each of the media distortions, but I didn't support Dean because I remember Mondale 1984, and I didn't want a candidate who promised to raise taxes on the middle class.

I contacted his campaign on this issue and so did others, but he was unyielding that he planned to repeat the mistake of Walter Mondale.

We'll never know what would have happened if he had promised to raise taxes on the rich more and not raise taxes on the middle class.

11. Outrageous statement.
"Matea, I understand that the Dean press corps decided to give the governor a little farewell gift in advance of his farewell today, a t-shirt that said establishment media and on the back, we have the power. "

Trouble is they are right.
