Poll question: Would Sen. Graham be a good running mate?
Graham would consider bid as running mate
by S.V. Date -- The Palm Beach Post
Friday, February 20, 2004

TALLAHASSEE -- Retiring U.S. Sen. Bob Graham once again indicated his willingness to consider the No. 2 slot on the Democratic presidential ticket Thursday, but reminded an audience that it isn't his choice to make.
(...)
"It is a decision that is totally in the hands of whoever the presidential nominee is," Graham said, essentially repeating the answer he has given since ending his own presidential bid in October. "I am prepared to do whatever -- within reason; I'm not going to sacrifice any of my grandchildren."
(...)
Detractors point out that Graham never escaped the single digits in national polling in his own campaign, and they say he would not help a national ticket. Supporters counter that over five statewide elections in Florida, two for governor and three for the U.S. Senate, Graham's average margin of victory was 22 percentage points, and that winning Florida could be all that the Democrats need to retake the White House.
Graham told the largely friendly audience that he is talking with Florida universities about creating a program to train candidates for the nation's intelligence services, which he said need Arabic-speaking agents.
On that topic, he said he is also drawing on his experience as former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee to write a book about the failure of American intelligence agencies to warn of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Graham is my senator, and a fine man.

1. I bet Gore wishes he had had him on the ticket
While not a thilling candidate himself, if he could help win Florida, that might make all the difference in Nov.

2. Forget about Florida.
Jeb's already called it for George.

And two Senators on the ticket is a bad idea. As absurd as it seems, Bush undoubtedly will run as an "outsider", and this makes his job easier.
