Kerry leads Bush by 2, but that's not the real story. It's that he leads Bush by 16 points among independents. Edwards also leads among indys by 11. Another thing to consider is that our candidate's support among Dems will only get stronger once the nominee is chosen and likely match the Repuke support for Bush. If Bush loses indys by doulbe digits, he'll lose in a landslide. Gore won independents by 2 points in 2000 and won the popular vote.

I'm an independent myself, and I have many friends who are the same, and the capture of OBL will not be seen as a boon for Bush, because independents tend to look more at the facts (like the unPATRIOTic Act and the terrible shape of the 'jobless recovery') and less at emotive tripe put forth by this maladministration.
