Kucinich still on the trail, still full of hope
http://www.jsonline.com/news/state/feb04/207724.asp

(snip)

"Four weeks ago conventional wisdom had it that Howard Dean was a shoo-in for the nomination. I guess not," he said. "Now, they're saying John Kerry has it all tied up. Maybe not. I fully intend to be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States in 2004."

(snip)

"The national media is trying to make this a horse race," he said. "I'm here to make sure that the people of Wisconsin have a chance to check out the saddlebags of all the horses in the race."

(snip)

C'mon, Dennis, they demanded. The decks are so stacked against you.

"Write this down," he tells reporters swarming around him. "By the time I go into Boston, the war will be the defining issue, and I will be the only candidate who can say that I voted against the war. I'm the only one who voted against the Patriot Act, and I'm the only one with a plan to bring our troops home."

3. He's strong on ALL the issues
I trust Dennis, because I know he's been very savvy in the past. If he says the war will be the big issue, then he's probably right.

However, his proposals on health care and many other issues, including our very system itself, are very important, and are high on the list of what voters are concerned about.

Then, Dennis is presenting a much different view of those important issues, so as he gets more exposure for those ideas, he's quite right that people are going to respond.

Power To The Kucitzens! :)

5. I voted for Dennis 1/2 hour ago in California. (We can vote early, if we
want to.) It felt great. I wish I could go stuff the ballot box for him. (The machine was Diebold, so it's probably possible, if you know the proper back-door secret code. ;-) )

The whole way home, I paid careful attention to the blossoming of many new "Kucinich for President" signs. I'm sure he will do very well here in the Bay Area - though statewide, I'm not expecting too much. (I'll guess maybe 4 percent or so - a tad better than Wisconsin.)

When he says, "By the time I go into Boston, the war will be the defining issue..." - I think he may well be right about that.
