Left handed argument in favor of ABB |
|
If you believe it makes absolutely no difference whether Bush or the eventual Democratic nominee gets elected, and you believe that the chances of a 3rd party candidate winning in '04 are non-existent - then why not go ABB?
Either Bush will win and we'll get 4 more years of Republican input to help put people over the line to your point of view, or, some unnamed Democrat will be elected and no changes will take place, so you'll still get 4 more years of input that would help put more people into your camp. Seems like a win-win for you.
So, as a no cost personal favor that doesn't make a damn bit of difference, please vote for the Democratic nominee.
Just in case....

2. I am by no means a Kerry fan |

but I'll vote for him anyway. It's not just the boy king, it's AshKKKroft, Rummmy and the rest of the thugs.
All of them give a bad name to humanity, IMO.
That is... if they are even human. :tinfoilhat:

4. I can predict the argument against this already. |
|
Not that I am a proponent of it, but they'd say that it's letting the Democratic Party get away with a rightward shift and reinforcing that behavior, and that letting them lose would cause them to reconsider and get them to go further left.
I would say that that could work, but as you say, there's a cost of four more years of things being really bad. There's also an argument to be made that the non-ABB strategy could backfire - the party could see the farther left as being too fickle to court, that they aren't reliable enough, and remain going rightward. There's a lot of speculation all around.
Me, I'd rather things not get really bad for four more years, and that change in a two-party system where people are divided pretty evenly works with a slow tug. If you really want to shift the country leftward in a democracy, you'll have to affect the people that do the voting.

6. Just to keep it going.... |

If there's really no difference between the D's and the R's, then it doesn't make any difference to a true member of the vangaurd which one's in office. It will get bad regardless, so the lumpen get taught their lesson either way.

As if anyone needed a reason, voting my fear or voting my hope, nope
Doing because it is my duty, my choice and done made my mind up long ago.
Dissension and discussion fine but acrimony and outrage, cannot this be debated in mature fashion?
Opps, sorry , forgot, need to swoop down and work at the level of the opponent :hurts:
