I am voting for Dean on March 2nd. And here is one of the reasons why.
Dean is still in the race. He has just stopped campaigning. He wrote to us and asked us to vote for him. He has NOT withdrawn.
This is powerful, maybe more powerful, as a protest vote! To make the Nominee know that we are a group of people that you have to account to! We are here, and we are not going to go away! We will vote for the Nominee in November, but just because we will vote ABB, that does not mean, that we support you or your past positions.
As Goldie Hawn said in the movie, Protocol: "We will watch you like a hawk!" :toast:
Vote your choice and beliefs! Not the polls!

3. Don't waste your vote. |
|
Sure its a great way to show Dean how much you support him. I think Dean has a lot going for him and I think he has single handedly re united the Democratic party but essentially you will be wasting your vote and if we expect to beat Dumbya we CAN NOT waste a single vote.

We want Dean delegates at the convention. If we vote in sufficient numbers to get Dean delegates at the convention we get them. So how is it wasting our vote to vote for what we want?

6. How can voting for the candidate who shares my beliefs, |
|
be a waste of MY vote? The delegate count has him in second place and the more delegates you have, the more you have power at the Convention, to have imput into what is in the parties platform! You do understand the process? I stated that I would vote ABB in November and I will work for whomever is the Nominee before then. But, I will vote in the Primary for the candidate who's positions are my positions! I do not need to jump on your bandwagon until after the convention! My beliefs and positions should still be heard!
You sound very much like those people who have stated "You are either for us or against us"! I am not for your candidate (although you did not say who I should vote for, so I don't know for sure if I am not) but I am NOT against us, if you mean Democrats!
I will vote my choice, not the polls! Whoever wins, wins and then I will support them. But, I will not be quiet!

7. Primaries vs. General Election |
|
I think too many people are confusing the primaries with the general election. Saying we have to unite behind one candidate during primary season is like saying we shouldn't bother voting at all -- just count up the registered Dems and registered Reps and whichever party has more members gets to choose the president. The rest of us can stay home and watch TV.

8. Question for you and other Dean supporters- |
|
Have you considered voting for a candidate still in the race you believe would stand up for your and Governor Dean's issues?
Sincere question and I ask because people have thrown the "What will you do when Kucinich drops out?" question at me, so I thought about it. If Kucinich had been forced to drop first, my support would have gone to Dean in the Primary.
Now I know Governor Dean hasn't completely "dropped out" and that he's asking you to continue voting to gain delegates. I can't help but wonder, though, wouldn't he be in a better position if he and you all helped nominate a candidate who definitely has a Progressive platform and would definitely be open to your concerns?

9. Honestly, I have thought about that option. |
|
However, After all the attacks on Dean during the primaries by the party establishment, considering that our votes will be a "protest vote" at the most...I think it's better to cast off the protest with our guy.
The message will be clearer that way.
But, that's just my opinion.

10. Thanks for the response EXE. |

I've been watching the swarm of recruiting efforts and shuddering over the past two days. Some have been from my own candidate's camp which pisses me off royally. I invite and welcome any who choose to change now, but I respect your right to vote Dean, period.
To be perfectly honest I wish there was a way for some people to do both. I know plenty are kind of torn about what to do, and damn, I'm convinced a union between Kucinich and Dean supporters would change the whole situation. Kind of leaves me feeling lousy knowing it's not going to happen. :(
