I predict the Republican ticket will be Romney/Huckabee |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-10-07 02:55 PM by Katzenkavalier
Mitt will run away with the Republican Primaries and Huckabee will be his way to ensure Evangelical votes.
Katz has predicted this on Nov. 10, 2007. Also, today Miguel Cotto will beat Shane Mosley by TKO.

1. We're on the same page. I posted this in Politics/Campaigns |
|
a couple of days ago:
Predictions are bullshit: I'm gonna make one: The repuke ticket will be Romney and Huckabee. Ta da.
Romney is in first in Iowa and NH and moving up in S. Carolina. Not sure how he's faring in Nevada. He has a boatload of money. Huckabee as his running mate would remove much of the "Mormon fear" that fundies have, and Huckabee is also a good ol' southern boy.
This is a ticket to be wary of, no matter who our candidate is: Mitt is a slick candidate- that works both for and against him. Huckabee, despite his loathsome fundiness, is a likable guy, with a folksiness and humor. A Romney/Huckabee ticket would reel the religious right wing in, instead of repelling them like a Guiliani ticket.
Having made such a prediction, I'll almost certainly be wrong. Hope I am.

3. Nope--Huck won't be on the ticket, first off, because he offers no |
|
real strength to Mittens against a Democrat in the general. Remember, if Mittens is the nominee, he will have gotten the fundie vote already--don't need Huck for that. Most people aren't aware that Huckabee has fatal flaws and ethics problems, as well, that would be a drag on the ticket--look how fast Romney dumped Larry Craig. On top of that, they would be a poor fit, philosophically: Romney is, at heart, not driven by religion--he is a pragmatic fiscal-conservative and CEO-type. Huck is a religious nutcase, and a fake populist. And Romney would need a Senator or Congressman to help guide him through Congress and Washington. That's why Gore was a big help to Clinton--you don't normally see two governors on a ticket. Romney will probably pick a Repub Senator.

5. I disagree. I think Ghouliani/Huckabee is more likely. |

8. I agree it will be Mitt "the shovel" but the VP will depend on who we |
|
nominate. Since our convention is before their convention, he will have the advantage of knowing our candidates.
If its Hillary, he goes with Lynne Cheney. If its Obama, he goes with Melinda Gates. If its Edwards he goes with John Roberts.
