I was talking to a "little birdie" over the weekend about New Hampshire and Iowa.. |
|
this little birdie is quite connected to those on the ground there, and it sounds like Huckabee could be a real dark horse among the repubs. He's the one to watch and be wary of IMO.

he's a Baptist minister with strong fundamentalist connections. He's big on wellness in health care, too.

2. I'm hearing the same thing. The Republican political junkies in Iowa keep saying that Huckabible has |
|
a lock on second place already and is gaining on Romney (but won't quite catch Romney).
I hear similar talk about Paul in New Hampshire.

4. It kind of makes sense because of the strong Christian Right base. It seems |
|
he'd represent their views more closely than any of the other candidates.

13. But the 'pukes don't want to run him because they don't want the loss pinned on the religious right |
|
That was the analysis I heard on public radio this morning. Kind of nice to hear the gops lose the courage of their convictions. They must know deep down inside that their most dedicated politicians are perceived as a-holes.

18. Not at all. The Repubs don't like Huckabible because Club for Growth says he's liberal on economic |
|
issues.
Huckabible is the anti-Ghouliani: he's moderate on the war and economic issues but he's a crazy extremist on social issues whereas Ghouliani is moderate on social issues but he's a crazy extremist on the war and economic issues.

25. Yes, "Huckabible" speaks about the "hollowing out of America's economy" |
|
That's a dangerous combination. I call it "populism" in the mode of William Jennings Bryan.

does it make a sound?
I've been watching Huckabee for months now, I think he is a real threat - aside from the fact that he is one of the 3 bozos who admitted to believing in Creationism over Evolution.

Watch out, the little bastard lies, too! LOL
I like Huckabee better than most of the repube candidates, mainly because he is believable. But if this bird says he is a darkhorse, beware! Birds of a feather........

|
so I've heard tell. Many have indicated him their third choice among all candidates. Apparently he actually has a real health care plan...

|
I can't for the life of me figure out why it would appeal to Dems, but this is New Hampshire we're talking about. I'll have to look into this so-called health care plan for myself. I was skeptical when he was telling me this. These were union members he was talking about though. I guess the guy can talk a good game.

he and Pat Buchanan have formed a Christian jihad together. That will actually appeal to a good majority of the repub voters.

8. Huckabee is the Kuchinich of the right. He |
|
has all the correct positions on all of the issues that are important to the far right. He's a purist, and so will have very little to no chance of getting the nomination, but he speaks well and has a pleasant personality.

28. They are right, he will probably do well in both states, |
|
maybe coming in third or even second in the two primaries, but I don't think he has the financing or support for the long haul. Super Tuesday comes up quickly and even if he does unexpectedly well he won't have the staying power to go all the way to the nomination, at least that's my take.

20. Not at all. Kucinich is a good solid liberal on all issues. Huckabible pisses of Club for Growth and |
|
NeoCons because he's moderate on the war and economic issues even though he's a crazy extremist on social issues.
In contrast, Ghouliani is the exact opposite: moderate on social issues but he's a crazy extremist on the war and economic issues.

29. You're right, Huckabee is moderate on the war, but |
|
you'd be surprised haw many good conservatives have had it with the war and are ready to back out slowly. His moderate postiion on economic issues also appeals to a broad swath of moderately conservative Republicans tired of Bush's extremist economic views. Giuliani is just the opposite but still seems to hold the lead for the nomination.

33. Bush doesn't have "extremist" economic views--he's the most liberal |
|
spender we've had in the White House--he's gone crazy with the checkbook, hasn't vetoed a damn thing until this year. The GOPers are PISSED at him for his fiscal irresponsibility, and they see Huckabee as more of the same--there's even a video up on You-Tube showing Huckabee asking his state legislature for a new tax or tax hike on something, ANYTHING. Not even a Dem would be that politically careless in terms of taxes. To clarify: Huck is NOT moderate on the war, he's a religious wack-job who sees it as a vital "theologic" war between Christians and Muslims--fucking scary.

32. I think a lot of conservatives would support Huckabee |
|
but don't because they think he doesn't have a good chance to win the nomination and would rather support someone with a bigger bankroll and more media coverage. Same with Kuchinich, a lot more liberals would support him but don't because they think he has little chance to win the nomination, so support someone else.
