vote for whoever you wish
Edited on Fri Feb-20-04 09:12 PM by G_j
it's your RIGHT! I will discuss the issues with you, I may plead for you to understand my point of view. I may try my best to educate you on something I feel you might be missing.

But I will NEVER NEVER brow-beat you, attack you, blame you.

That is my pledge

peace out G_j

edit: should that have been whomever?
well you know what I mean :)

5. I've said a few things
here I've regretted, but as our situation gets more and more serious I am really going to make the utmost effort.

I am reminded of that familiar Hollywood movie scenario. A bunch of people are trapped in a frightening, dangerous situation, they start panicking and turning on each other, jeopardizing the safety of all. we don't need to being acting a bad movie.
...deep breath..

..should you decide not to vote for the eventual democratic nominee, please have the decency not to belly ache too much if Bush wins a second term.

21. Exactly...

and those voting for Kerry as nominee should also not bitch and moan and blame it on Nader or anyone else when Kerry is beaten by Bush in November, because in my opinion a vote for Kerry as nominee is a vote for Bush in November... you'll see I'm right in November,

26. Explain a few thing to me ...
and those voting for Kerry as nominee should also not bitch and moan and blame it on Nader or anyone else when Kerry is beaten by Bush in November

If Nader jumps in and the polls show he begins siphoning votes from the democratic nominee, hell yes I will blame Nader. It is true Al Gore ran a less than good campaign in 2000, but the election did come down to Florida and after all the legal wrangling Bush came out on top by just over 500 votes. Nader got thousands of votes in Florida - many of which would have gone to Gore. That would have put any legal case out of reach for the GOP. That is called political reality.

So if this happens again, screw Nader.

because in my opinion a vote for Kerry as nominee is a vote for Bush in November... you'll see I'm right in November

Why not prove your case now?

29. Apparently this person thinks that someone who can't win a single primary
would have a better shot at beating Bush in the GE. :eyes:

11. The Running Man
I'll go 'ya one further. I deeply resented Nader's intrusion into the close 2000 race, but after reading about The Nation's plea to Nader not to run, I suddenly realized that if he wants to run, and people are willing to support him, he should run. The Nation is undermining it's own philosophical underpinnings for political expediency.

Now I have nothing against individuals doing what's pragmatic. In fact, I feel it is required in many cases to vote for the lesser of two evils. For example, my favorite Dem is Kucinich, but I would pull the lever for Pat Buchanan over King George in the GE. It does however bother me greatly for a magazine such as The Nation to start practicing such mental jiu jitsu.

I won't vote for Ralph. I think he has become a bit of an egomaniac. But he still has a right to run. If we try to muzzle Ralph, we become the totalitarians that we rail against.

That being said, I hope he reconsiders.

13. that is spot on
and I'm sure there are plenty of people running for pres. as is always the case.
I think Wavy Gravy once ran. I remember when there was a campaign for "nobody for president" or maybe Wavy ran as nobody.
There is no doubt a pro-hemp candidate again, an anti-death penalty candidate?
They have the right to run, people have the right to vote for them.

I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it.

Forget Nader, I just read an article on how single women are the biggest swing vote out there, energy might be very well spent reaching out to them.

My first response to "I AM NOT VOTING FOR..." or "HERE IS WHY I AM SITTING HOME..." threads is "Who gives a flying pink monkey's ass who you are voting for or why?"

Vote or don't vote, you childish whiny narcissistic piece of shit!

The worst threads on DU are where someone thinks their pathetic turd-like existence isn't validated unless they carp and moan above the fray. Fuck off already.

25.  from "About Us"
<snip>
We welcome Democrats of all stripes, along with other progressives who will work with us to achieve our shared goals. While the vast majority of our visitors are Democrats, this web site is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, nor do we claim to speak for the party as a whole.

Democratic Underground would not be possible without the participation of like-minded individuals from across the country and, indeed, from around the world. The content for the site is provided by people who feel that their views are not represented by the conservative "mainstream" media in the U.S. We accept article submissions from those on the left who wish to write, so that DU represents a variety of progressive viewpoints.
<snip>

I hope that helps
