Does Nader '04=Perot '96? |
|
We all know that Ross Perot (arguably) helped Clinton defeat Bush I in '92, but what we never talk about on DU is Perot's second bid in the '96 election. He didn't get as many votes that year, but he still got enough to prevent Dole from winning, at least in terms of percentage. Does anyone here think Nader's second bid will be like Perot's in '96?

1. I don't think Nader will have many supporters |

He'll be like Sharpton or Kucinich in the democratic primaries. He'll have some passionate diehards, but won't register in polls, and will largely be ignored by the media. I'll be shocked if Nader gets more than 1-2% of the national vote. Of course, 1-2% in key battleground states, may be enough to tilt it to Bush.
If you live in a battleground state, don't even THINK about voting for Nader!

The media will prop him up regardless of how many supporters he has. Either that or they'll do story after story on how Kerry and Edwards voted for issue X in order to "divide and conquer" and get angry Democrats to vote for St. Ralphie.
