I don't think Obama is strong enough to be president. |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-15-07 11:39 PM by Bleachers7
Obama is a great guy. I have seen him in person and I love him as a fellow Democrat. Personally, I feel like he's weak when facing confrontation. He doesn't act strongly. He skittish. The worst part about it is that he plays politics when necessary, and his answer on drivers licenses was terrible (of you can call it an answer). Overall, I don't think Obama is tough enough to run in the General Election.
Edit: The Clinton people think this is pro-Hillary. Let's not even get started with her.

But Biden. And I actually hate to say it. I don't agree with him on a lot of stuff. But when it comes to shear experience and toughness, Biden has it. I'd like to say Edwards too, but I'm not sure if he's willing to be tough all the time.

with completely, that's a given. I do question the premise. Whomever 'debates' their counterpart, look at the counterparts. They are very bad. I think Obama on his worst day could whup 'em. He's more cerebral, but I think that's a good thing.
Edit to add: Biden is a love and is smart, as is Dodd. But money talks too much; I wonder how that could even be turned around?

we need biden, obama, edwards and hillary in the arena. when the chit has settled anyone of them will be better than what we've had for 7 years. remember the white house is ours to lose in 08-in fighting will do just that, always end your bitch with a good note-like obama doesn't have the experience-but he sure has the gift of gab. biden is old and loud but-he sure knows what he's talking about. edwards seems a little soft, but He was smart enough not to vote to keep the war going. hillary seems to say different things from day to day but she can stand her ground with facts when its needed. remember the man in the office now has kept a war going on false information,in two years and american from the city who never held a weapon can be a green Beret or a navy seal, iraq can't train 400,000 soldiers in 6 years? thats a sad administration to admit that. remember this administration took away your privacy rights. spent your future foolishly and will do anything to smear our candidates including posting in our threads posing as democrats.
stick up for your man/woman but don't smear their opponents and we will have a candidate that will win the whitehouse in 08,and take the others with them. I see sect. of state, sect. of defense, and the best president and vice president team this country has had in years in our top people! vote democrat in 08!

And he has only been in the Senate for less than a single term. His national experience is lacking and he is making up for a lot of it with his natural political gifts but it is still his major drawback.
Honestly, I think Obama with 4-8 more years in the Senate would be hard to beat. But he chose to run now so he is going to have to deal with this.

I said he would be much better with more experience, politically.
If you want to hear me say he is head and shoulders better than anyone else, though, I won't because he isn't.
FYI, the only person I don't want getting the nomination is Edwards. And Dennis isn't going to so there is really no point in debating that.

27. I tried to tell you all last week to watch |
|
for HRC to come out bold and take no crap from anyone. She did just that against Obama and more so against Edwards. She was the bear, a damn grizzley in the debate. HRC captured this debate within the first 15 minutes, and from there forward she controled the debate and the tone of the debate was changed. I was very proud of the way she came out and in the one instance with an exchange from Obama and the license, HRC answered with a single word NO! Obama got trapped into the exact thing he found fault with HRC in the last debate, and instead of having one answer, he had two. When HRC answered an emphatic NO, Obama was chopped off at the knees..
Great debate HRC.

51. I've mostly known of Barack Obama from the campaign in Illinois. |
|
Most of the progressive press spoke of his candidacy in that race against Alan Keyes as if there was no real point in Keyes even being in the race, a notion borne out by the final vote for that Senate seat.
Kerry asked Obama to give the keynote address at the Boston convention. Obama delivered a masterpiece. Joan Didion believes that the ability to think for one's self depends on the master of language. I believe she's right, and if she is, Obama's landmark address will be in current DUers' grandkids' and great-grandkids' history books.
It deserves to be. It was a magnificent speech, forcefully and persuasively delivered.
We'll see that Obama soon.
He's been there all along is my guess.
