7. Newsweek and various small papers around the country report it
Mostly accounts of individual repubs admitting to sending him money and telling others to do so in the locals.

But newsweek speculated on the overall fraction of the CERTAIN GOP/Bush supporter money he was getting that others other than Sharpton weren't getting

Would you post a link that is more than speculation to back up your assertion? Thanks.

12. That's not a newsworthy story.
Of course a few individual Republicans may do something like that. Are they a significant source of Dean contributions? Categorically no. If Newsweek does report that, the story is nothing more than a smear.

I'm starting to really, really hate the Democratic establishment.

19. So I am the democratic establishment now ?
Well I hate Dean, and so do more democrats probably than like him, although you'll notice we don't go around labeling our opponent(s) as the establishment, or repub-lite, or any other empty, unfounded, insult that Dean and Dean-supporters are so fond of

20. Liberal media elites running baseless smears
does burn my cookies. Yes, they are elites -- there are only a handful of companies (that Clark wants to dereg even more btw) that own most of the media in the United States.

24. With the 40 Republican fund raisers dean hired
Why wouldn't he continue with this comparison?

Noted Republican endorses Dean
http://rutlandherald.com/hdean/72150

<snip>
Hilary Cleveland of New London, wife of the late Congressman James Cleveland, and a prominent campaigner for both President Bushes, is helping organize a Republicans for Dean movement.

Dean announced the names of 40 Republicans who will serve on a steering committee. Cleveland says she’s been a lifelong Republican, but will switch her registration to independent so she can vote for Dean in the presidential primary.

Cleveland was the New London co-chairwoman for George W. Bush’s 2000 campaign and was the state finance chairwoman for Bush’s father in 1980.

***************

So Clark speaks at a republican fundraiser while dean hires republican fundraisers, and just who do you think these republican fundraisers will be contacting to raise funds for mr.dean?

Food for thought from….“JAFO”

Should Republicans Help Nominate Howard Dean?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Exclusive commentary by CK Rairden

Aug 6, 2003

Republicans are already voting with their wallets for Howard Dean, logging on to Dean’s official Web Site and donating various sums of cash to the left wing candidate’s primary campaign. They want Dean to win the Democrat primary. The real question now emerges. Will rank and file Republicans cross over and vote in the Democrat Primary elections to help get Dean the nomination?

Howard Dean is a dream candidate for two particular sides of the body politic. First, the angry disgruntled liberal wing that has taken over the Democrat Party and second Americans that want to see President George W. Bush re-elected.

Howard Dean is even more to Bush advisor Karl Rove. Dean is a Karl Rove wet dream. He is an anti-war liberal in a time when soccer moms have become security conscious. Dean has also promised to raise taxes if elected president. These are two losing platforms that have a McGovernesque train wreck written all over it. The GOP now has to consider whether they will now take an even more active role in securing the nomination for Howard Dean...
--------------------

And I guess no national review readers who baught the "please nominate this man" Dean cover issue would EVER consider reading "help" between the lines and actually do just that, particularly in states like NH where helping to nominate weaker candidates is a GOP tradition

10. Here it is....
"The newest supporter of former Gov. Howard Dean of Vermont is super-lobbyist Ron Book, who is a host for a Dean presidential campaign fund-raiser later this month. Wait a minute! Isn't this the same Book who raises money for President Bush and his baby brother, Jeb? "This is money for the Democratic primary," Book quickly points out. In other words, Dean now is running only against Democrats, so any money Book raises will not hurt Bush. ..."

14. Could it be
The big tax cuts gave the Publican backers so much money they foolish maxed out doling to BushCo and still had money to piss away. Monkey wrenching around by donating to "Big Easy" Dean was the gambit, albeit ill-conceived, by a few dimly lit GOPers... guess those that threw money at Dean are now holding their breath until Nov. 2004.

1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.
