Politico's Mike Allen says all voters have thought about Hillary being a bitch.
Edited on Fri Nov-16-07 07:28 PM by antiimperialist
Allen said the following in a CNN interview two days ago:

CHETRY (11/14/07): All right Mike, does that hurt McCain?

ALLEN: Oh, give me a break. Of course not. First of all, I think it's kind of funny. You watch that tape, it's clear to him who she was referring to. He could have said, “Whoever were you talking about?” Which might have been the deftest way to handle it.

CHETRY: But he said, “That's an excellent question.”

ALLEN: All right. But what Republican voter hasn't thought that? What voter in general hasn't thought that? And what people like about McCain is his straight talk, his candor, and if he had folded or buckled under that question, that would have looked ridiculous...But Kiran, this was just a funny moment on the campaign trail.

CHETRY: Well, it's only funny unless you're offended by somebody calling a woman the b-word.

Contact Allen and let them know this is the 21th century, not the 15th:

3. I'm a woman, and I'm not offended in the least.
I think whining about this is just silly.

It's not like there aren't serious issues to discuss instead.

5. Translation
"I am a supporter of a candidate other than Clinton, therefore I welcome insults against her, who is the frontrunner at this point, by a mile.

19. your "translation" proves you are a hill-bot and incapable of hearing any rational comments
I think worrying about HRC being called a bitch is just silly. Strong women are frequently referred to that way, I personally find it to be a backhanded compliment.

21. So it's acceptable to call 'strong women" bitches?
You heard it guys. If something happens often, it's acceptable.

Weird reasoning.

Allen's disgusting.

This would have been a great opportunity for McCain to speak out against the almost acceptable use of the term to describe any woman. He had a chance here and he blew it.

6. The sad and correct part is that it really wont hurt McCain.
That's how sad our political discourse is.I don't really care about the everyday Joe and Jane getting ugly, but when the people who are actually running see nothing wrong with this it says a lot about the sorry state of affairs this country is in.

9. Barbara Bush called her a bitch
It's just those good ol' Republican values.

(I am not offended by 'bitch', but it has no place in public political debates)

13. Mike Allen's email refused to accept my message-said it had offensive word (bitches) !

He has a picture of himself on his Politico email site, wearing big red plaid tie and smiling broadly (no pun intended).

My message to Allen referred to political media bitches.......

Apparently Politico thinks this word is too insulting to be sent to their commentator Mike Allen.

When I clicked the send message button, Politco responded: No message sent ! .....and explained that the message contained offensive language.

14. Good point
I thought the same. If the word bitch is so funny, why is it filtered?

Try typing it with dashes: b----

20. I sent new message with bitches in dashes and asked him to try an experiment-call some men
bitches

My second email to Mike Allen is as follows ( My reference to cute picture refers to the picture he has on his email site).

I tried to send you an email. Your email account refused to deliver the message, claiming it had offensive language.

Apparently the word you thought to be no big deal in describing Senator Clinton is considered offensive by Politico.

My blocked message used the same term to describe you. The message was:
Mike Allen: One of those shrill Washington political media b-t-ches. Cute picture.
No offense intended of course.

My point is that I have found that men tend to take offense when they or other men are described by the "b word" but often exhibit a double standard when it is applied to women.

Please try this experiment over the next month--use it to refer to Bush, Cheney, or even McCain and let me know what kind of response you get from male colleagues.

16. Hey, my email was blocked, too!
And I didn't use the word "bitch." Maybe it was my characterization of Mr. Allen as a pin-dicked bug fucker that caused the e-mail to be kicked back.
