Did you get the memo? Howard Dean is ABB |
|
The fight that we began can and must continue. Although my candidacy for president may end today, the most important goal remains defeating George W. Bush in November, and I hope that you will join me in doing everything we can to support the Democrats this fall. From the earliest days of our campaign, I have said that the power to change Washington rests not in my hands, but in yours. Always remember, you have the power to take our country back. http://www.deanforamerica.com

One of the big right wing myths is that the country is 'conservative'. It's not. America is not made up of a bunch of xenophobic bigots. Even many of the people who voted for Bush are horrified at what he's done. And there are a whole lot more people who are proud to be liberal than they want us to believe. Too many of them have bought into the pernicious myth that they can't make a difference through participation in the political process. We can make a difference.

I'm certainly NOT SUPPORTIVE of the 'illusion' of democratic ideals that the current DLC leadership and pro-war democrats exhibit. Bush fans may embrace their pro-war canidate, many democrats/decent people WON'T vote pro-war.

to take the party back and then the country.
The republicrats appear to have won this round. We Democrats from the Democratic wing will have some influence at the convention, but obviously not enough to take the party back and so goes the country.
The DLCers (the rat part of the republicrat party) are clinging to power by wheeling and dealing away our rights and our futures to the mega corps. They appear to have a lock on the Democratic Party for the time being and will continue to kick the people in the face with their corporatist boots.
It is going to be a longer battle than it might have been. But I'm in it for the haul with Dean. Over the next few election cycles, we are going to send a lot of republicrats, who dishonorably sport a D behind their names, home and replace them with real Democrats across the board.
Dean in '08.

Many of Dean's supporters were first time political activists, or independents, or Greens, or disenchanted Republicans.
Who is to say where will they go? One thing for certain, they won't rubber stamp Terry McCauliffe's choice in Boston!
For my part, I am for Edwards because he is the only remaining candidate having a chance to stop this country from having to choose between two Skull & Bones presidential candidates in November.

coming from you Feanor, and thus further alienates rather than assists in the construction of the bridges we desparately need within the Democratic Party in order to oust the pukes across the board. Your many posts have revealed that you are positively clueless as to what Dean is saying here.
Obviously, from the experience we endured through the 90's with the pukes putting Clinton through the shredder, on a daily basis, we are not going to take our country back by just electing a Dem to the Presidency.
Clinton did the best he could but he accomplished virtually nothing that has staying power as, for example, FDR was able to do.
Yes, we thought it was wonderful that surpluses were piling up so that we would be able to meet our future obligations to provide a safety net for retirees for whom things had not turned out very well. The debt was being paid off. There were jobs everywhere, so many jobs that workers, for a couple of years, had a tad bit more leverage and negotiating power with employers. People the world over welcomed Americans.
Virtually none of that was transferred into legislation that would have protected those gains. It all evaporated instantaneously on 12/09/04 when the SCOTUS Scaliatites stopped the counting of the votes.
Dean is talking about a REAL grass roots movement - taking school boards back from the fundies - taking city and county governments back from the local corpo butt kissers who sell out and sell off our communities - taking state legislatures, governors seats and congressional reps and senate seats back from the pukes.
John Kerry just does not get it and never will.
I've already voted for Dean in my AZ primary and will turn my efforts to supporting his movement to root the pubs out everywhere across this land.
I will vote for whomever gets the nomination because I dearly want to avoid the horrors of a BushCo second term, if at all possible. But even if Kerry is nominated and beats Bush* only the worst of the worst policies he instituted will be somewhat modified. The mega corps will still be calling 98% of the shots and there will be no real, permanent change of course, just as there wasn't with Clinton.
The trajectory has marched ever rightward since the pukes rose from the ashes of Goldwater's defeat in 1964. Clinton slowed the pace a little - BushCo has had the pedal to floor since stealing it's way in. Kerry, if elected would be another Clinton. He'll slow the pace - a little - but we will still move further to the right during his term(s).

He also knew some of his supporters weren't transferrable. In my opinion just changing occupants in the WH is not change enough. That said, I will probably hold my nose and vote for the Dem nominee in Nov., but I'll be voting for Dean in the primary.
Hopefully, you and people like you will keep quoting Dean - please aim it at Kerry or Edwards, because they need to stay away from their pink tutus.

We just may not follow it.
What we DO find offensive, is someone who has bashed Dean and Deanies relentlessly, and viciously, suddenly finding something of Dean's to quote -- for his own self-serving purposes (i.e., "Fall in line, do what you're told. Vote ABB.")
I'm a little surprised you can't see this.
Or more likely you can and just don't particularly want to acknowledge it.
