Dean MeetUps to Continue -- Special March MeetUp
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 10:35 AM by Eloriel
What's Next with Meetup
We've heard from many of you with questions about the future of Dean MEETUPs. There WILL, indeed, be a Dean Meetup on Wednesday, March 3rd (7 pm local time), and, as always, your help is critical to its success. Ask community members to signup and RSVP.

snip

The March Meetup will be an opportunity for you and your fellow community members to continue fulfilling the goals of this campaign. From supporting like-minded candidates to running for office yourself (check out http://localpols.fordean.net/) or registering people to vote, there's so much to discuss and plan with your group on March 3rd.

We're working on something specific that you'll be able to download and bring to your Meetup, but we'd like to hear your ideas. Please post them in this thread.

On Wednesday, our campaign entered a new phase when Governor Dean reminded us that our organization has grown into something far greater than one man’s quest for the presidency: “Today my candidacy may come to an end—but our campaign for change is not over,” he said. From your calls, emails, and blog posts in the past 24-48 hours, you’ve made it abundantly clear that our resolve, determination, and ability to change America remains as strong as ever.

-- Michael Silberman, National Meetup Coordinator

NOTE: And Dean supporters who haven't voted in the primaries yet should definitely still vote for Dean to support the vision by helping increasing his delegate count for more influence at the convention.

4. Kerry doesn't have a clue about how to take back our country
Just how to borrow, co-opt and steal a winning message. Kerry is what we're trying to take back our country FROM, thank you very little.

And we will.

16. "I represent the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party!"
Paul Wellstone said that. Howard Dean appropriated it.

And that makes Dean different from John Kerry. Why do I say that?

John Kerry has a voting record almost identical to Paul Wellstone's. So, he's done more than TALK about it. John Kerry has LIVED it.

Did Wellstone vote for both Patriot Acts?

Did Wellstone vote for the Iraq invasion?

Did Wellstone vote for NCLB?

Was Wellstone a proponent of ANWAR drilling?

This Kerry supporter does not support hijacking Dean threads. This is a perfectly legitimate and informative thread for Dean supporters. Your rude interruption is not appropriate.

Thanks

14. Thank for reminder. I will be going to both Kerry and Dean meetups
In fact, I may end up leading the Kerry meetup because there are
only a few Kerry people listed in my town. I think most of us at the meetup will be new.

9. Thanks, Eloriel
While, understandably, many of us are feeling low these days, it's important for us to realize that our voices can still be heard. We still have strength and power. No one can take that away from us unless we let them.

11. Surprisingly, I'm not feeling "low".
It's quite understandable for other Deaners to feel a bit "low".

But this campaign, unlike any of the other political campaigns that I've worked for in the past, is VERY different. It's so different that it gives me the willies.....just thinking about it.

Of all the campaigns that I've worked for, it's normal for me to feel a bit saddened or quite disappointed. But, for the first time, I feel invigorated after the loss of my candidate.

Dean Campaign is truly......WEIRD!

15. That's because free thinking is actually allowed!
:) It's not about the person as much as the message, and it's a great message. He will continue to be a great inspiration.

By the way, thanks for a good reminder to not speak for others. :)

13. I'm advising our Dean Meetup to help organize the local community
My county is threatened by Republican plans for casinos, shopping malls, clear-cutting, and ruinous economics. We will be organizing a county-wide Throw the Republicans Out group and then work to create a "Green COmmunity" with regional planning that reduces or eliminates pollution points and starts bottom-up economic development efforts to find and create sustainable jobs.

17. I propose we continue Dean meet-ups indefinitely and/even fundraising
Edited on Sat Feb-21-04 06:35 PM by shance
There are many places we could contribute money and certainly time.

I dont know if the DNC has any legal oppression* over us, but Im over them anyway :)

They are soooo 'yesterday'.

Dean meetups and house parties should continue*** I think we should stay the trail and keep the activities have been working as much as possible.
