Why is 2008 so important for us to win? The answer: Kerry-Edwards
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 02:17 AM by Kerry2008

This was supposed to be OUR year. After four successful years of progress, President John Kerry and Vice President John Edwards were supposed to mop the floor with their Republican opponent and finish the tough work of cleaning up Bush's mess from 2004. At this point, they would have already ended the war in Iraq, restored our place in the world, provided healthcare to millions of Americans who don't have it, given relief and opportunity to the middle class again, shrunk the deficit, and shaken up Washington.

President Kerry would focus on getting the job done, and cementing his legacy in American history as the man who cleaned up the biggest Republican mess in history. Vice President Edwards would focus on finishing that job, and positioning himself to lead the national ticket in 2012 after the Kerry Administration came to an end. He'd prepare to run to provide eight more years of peace and prosperity to the American people.

Why is 2008 so important? Because this was supposed to be our year to gloat about the progress John Kerry and John Edwards made in turning America around, instead of making the case we even deserve the White House in the first place. And while we argue and debate about Clinton, Obama and Edwards...we shouldn't have to. This should be our year to re-elect the team we nominated and helped elect in 2004 to replace George W. Bush.

That's why it's important. No more what could have beens. No more Gores or Kerrys without their rightful place in the White House. We have to nominate the best person possible in 2008, and the best ticket possible. Whether that's lead by Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama or John Edwards. Or one of the others. It's important we clean up the mess in 2008 that's only gotten worse since January 2005, when Kerry-Edwards was supposed to begin the clean up.

2. When I was 5,...
...JFK was elected. As a child, I saw what a president could be. I was SOOO looking forward to pointing at President Kerry and telling my son what it feels like to be PROUD of a president.

Unfortunately, in his formative years, he is associating the title "president" with dishonesty, corruption, laziness, war-mongering and stupidity.

Sad.

3. 2004 was the first election I got involved in, it meant the world to me.
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 02:29 AM by Kerry2008
I remember crying election night, late in the morning when the news anchors were basically calling Ohio for Bush. I didn't give up hope that night, and then in the morning when Kerry conceded I just broke down. All that hard work, the over two hundred hours I did in volunteering, and he loses? How? So many people like me dedicated so much into that campaign. We can't let two good human beings like John Kerry and John Edwards get eaten up and distorted by the Republican attack machine in 2008.

The GOPers are slime balls. 2004 was absolutely disgusting. Kerry didn't deserve all the crap thrown at him, and he deserved to win that race. It's a real damn shame.

5. Actually this is when President Gore's second term should be
coming to a conclusion. What a different Thanksgiving this would have been.

6. True. We could have avoided the mess completely, instead of Kerry-Edwards fixing it.
Either way, it's sad and really shows why we MUST win in 2008!!

No more what could have beens.

7. I got really drunk on Election Night 2004.
I knew Bush stole Ohio and got away with it, and that nobody would bother trying to fight it.

15. You got one part right, Bush stole Ohio. Just like Florida in 2000.
It's sad but true. We can't let it happen again. I can't stress that enough. America would be so much better off with President Gore or President Kerry at this moment than we are now. If you want to avoid President Romney or President Giuliani from taking office, we have to fight and show some backbone and courage. No more Bob Shrums. No more James Carvilles. No more safe and cautious rhetoric. We have to go out, say what we believe, show who we fight for, and lead America again.

13. Agreed. And whether you thought the 04' campaign sucked or not, they didn't lose. It's tragic.
America would be SO much better off with President Kerry right now!

14. God, I hope so.
Man I wish he didn't have to run in 2008. I wish he was in the White House alongside John Kerry right now. It's the sad reality, but we still have him running in 08'. I wish Senator Kerry were running too, but at least one of the members of the national ticket in 2004 is. Senator Edwards will make a fine President.

12. Absolutely. It's tragic that good people like Kerry and Gore never got a chance to serve.
Edited on Thu Nov-22-07 05:48 PM by Kerry2008
Both have/had great careers. John Kerry has served his country well in the Senate, and Vice President Gore did as well in the Senate and White House as Vice President. But both contributed to the national debate as Democratic nominees more than any politician could ever want to, and were strong leaders who had positive and optimistic progressive visions, and America deserved both leaders in the White House. Instead we got eight years of hell. We can't afford eight more years, especially when some of the Republican candidates like McCain and Romney want status quo Bush policies on steroids.

Gore and Kerry still continue to lead. Kerry in the Senate, Gore in public life with the national conversation on global warming. While they continue to press on with their lives, we must not forget the lessons from 2000 and 2004 and let another great candidate lose to the Republican attack machine.

No more!! 2008 is a must win!
