A question about primaries.
This is my first. Ever. And I'm a grandmother. I'm paticipating for one reason only. To vote for Dennis Kucinich. Which I will do regardless of anyone else's opinions, rants, comments, or whatever. So my perspective is naturally a little different from the norm.

I thought primaries were about debate, deciding on issues, and choosing the candidate best qualified to deliver on those issues. That's not what I've seen in process the last year.

Is this the normal primary process? That people prevaricate, spin, misrepresent, and spout rhetoric; that they rip each other, and all the candidates, to shreds until enough hatred is generated to self-destruct, or to guarantee that no one will be satisfied with the eventual outcome?

So, reading this particular forum, what has the primary devolved to at this point? A barroom brawl between Edwards and Kerry, with Kucinich & Sharpton along as mascots ready to be savaged and to take the blame if the brawl goes wrong? Are we really supposed to care which one of those 2 is still standing in the end? Do either one represent real change? I don't mean change in the WH. I don't mean change from Bush. I assume any democrat would be different from Bush. I mean change in the democratic party itself. Change in the power structure that corrupts our nation.

What is the whole point here? What is the frenzy about? Is war between fellow democrats and/or progressives what the primary season is really all about?
