Think Nader won't be a threat this time around? Think again! |
|
Even though Nader won't have the organization, the media whores will still prop him up and give him free publicity. Look for Hannity and Rushbo to praise him for being a "liberal who's principled" or crap like that. I was watching Faux a few hours ago, and they looked thrill over the prospect of him running again. They'll also highlight Kerry and Edwards being "Bush lite" deliberately to get people to move Nader. There are also several issues happening now that Nader could use to bolster his status. * could shove an anti-gay marriage amendment into Congress this fall, and force Kerry (or Edwards) to vote on it. Our nominee would be "damned if we do, damned if we don't" and Nader could use the opportunity to swoop in. Bottom line: The whores will prop up Nader, and "divide and conquer" most of the time they cover this election.

This election is going to be close. If Bush pushes the gay marriage crap, he likely loses support of a lot of gay people who were SO enamored with HIM in 00 when they thought there was no big difference in the candidates.
Yes the whores will rally around him but he does not have the organized weight of the Green Party behind him this time around.
It isn't to say there is NO threat..it is simply to say that all this fucking doom and gloom and fear is unbecoming.
I know more people who voted for him last time that won't vote for him this time than I do new people who plan on voting for him this time around.

7. He didn't get that many gay votes |
|
and in point of fact Dole did a little bit better according to exit polls. He would lose some but by no means all of the gays who voted for him.

5. IF they support him, it'll only be because of the potential |
|
spoiler factor. Certainly not due to his platform or anything else.
So while it won't have any effect this time around (sad to say) keep on fighting for election reform. We can't let this kind of voting situation go on forever!

9. The media will user Nader as a hammer |
|
They will do what they did with Gore and user Nader as a hammer against Kerry.
Why does Nader want to give the right wing media more power?

10. Republicans are Nader's most devoted "supporters" |
|
And the Republicans will ferry money into Nader's campaign just as they did in 2000.
I am also persuaded that much of the "support" Nader currently thinks he is getting (in the form of e-mails) comes from Karl Rove lackeys.

I will not believe this until I hear it from his own lips. It's that difficult to figure out whether a man is crazy or evil, you don't want to try until you absolutely have to. :(

13. With only a fighting chance, we will need every single vote... |
|
to overcome the power and money arrayed against us. In my opinion, we can't afford to lose one vote to Nader. Consider, for example, that California, New York, Massachusetts and even Vermont have Republican governors, so voters even in those states aren't averse to X-ing the "R" box.

Those tempted to vote for Nader probably wouldn't watch faux news or listen to limbaugh anyway.. I'm not too worried about this Nader thing.
In 2000, I and many other voters were very young and had not had the experiences of living under an administration this awful. We bought the "there's no difference between parties" line and we didn't want to vote for the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately, I and many people I know voted for Nader in 2000. Now those of us who are progressively minded know that there is a clear distinction between parties and will never make that mistake again.

Welcome to DU.
You may find you change your mind again, though, if you vote for enough Dem congress folks who vote for things like NAFTA and the Patriot Act. :( Better hope the Dems can field far more Kuciniches and Wellstones in the future.
