Robert F. Kennedy Jr. formally endorses Hillary...will campaign in Iowa for her...
Edited on Thu Nov-29-07 08:36 AM by SaveElmer
Sweet endorsement from one of the most popular progressives in the country, and the son of one of the truly great Democrats of the last half century...

DES MOINES, Iowa - Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton has collected the endorsement of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Kennedy will announce his endorsement Thursday in a series of appearances in eastern Iowa. The endorsement announcement was included in a statement provided to The Associated Press on Wednesday night.

"Hillary Clinton has the strength and experience to bring the war in Iraq to an end and reverse the potentially devastating effects of global warming," said Kennedy, a veteran environmental activist and the chief attorney for the New York-based environmental group Riverkeeper.

Clinton, who is locked in a close race with Democratic rival Barack Obama for Iowa's leadoff caucuses, returns to Iowa on Saturday for a series of forums.

My point is, while all of these things are good and would be welcome after eight years of Bushie Vampirism, but they do NOTHING to prevent the next eight years of Bushie Vampirism.

they don't return the voting system to the American People

they don't prosecute the greatest arch-criminals to have ever ruled America, thus making it more difficult for arch-criminals to rule us again

they don't restore habeus corpus nor remove warrantless wiretapping nor disband the OHS (sure they renamed it DHS after Focus Groups determined that OHS sounded a little too truthful to the character of an organization run by arch-criminals)

and so much more.

So, until and unless I can believe that Sen. Clinton plans do make significant progress in these, more important areas, that will help keep America strong and free for generations, instead of until the next Royal Bushie seizes power and starts up right where they left off, almost as if Sen. Clinton's reign never happened.

Much like now, when it seems as if the reign of Bill Clinton never happened.

31. Bobby is a big boy. He can handle it.
His progressive credentials are also unassailable.

Whatever anyone has to say about his endorsement, he is one of the good
guys, who has given his time, heart and soul to the environmental movement.
Just listen to him on any of his Ring Of Fire shows on AAR and you'll get
the idea. He has never made any noises about seeking office, but if by any
chance Hillary gets to the White House and Bobby is picked to replace her
as Senator from NY, he will be the closest thing the Senate has to Bernie
Sanders II.

33. OK well I'm a big RFK JR fan so if he's ok with Hillary, I feel better about her
I do believe she will surround herself with smart people, I know she's smart- brilliant in fact and I trust her judgment in most areas- but not all. She's not my first (or second or third) choice and I have major issues with her past (Iraq and Iran) and concerns about her being a DC insider. But I am a big RFK fan and his endorsement is a step in the right direction.

With that said, like most of us of us, if she becomes the candidate, I will work for her and do everything possible to see that she wins the election. After last night's terrifying GOP debate, it's even more clear that we cannot have another 4 years of a GOP in the White House.

40. My thoughts as well. This election is an education.
RFK jr. is brilliant. I've heard him say things about the environment that only very few have ever said. He's right on.

I am also trying to open my mind regarding all of the candidates. My favorite is showing tainted signs. And my least favorite is gaining endorsements from the respected.

It's going to be a real education. I judge by the Iraq war vote. Maybe there's more to it than that.

53. Kennedy worked with her on environmental issues in NY
He's always been in her camp as a Senator, because they worked together on environmental issues in NY.

I'm disappointed in his endorsement of her, but it's more of a personal endorsement that is not surprising.

57. This is a big endorsement. I don't know why he felt compelled to do this, but it will help her.
I wish that he would have stayed out of the fray. That said, this will help Hillary.

61. Good for Team Clinton, but I seriously can't imagine that RFK Jr thinks that about the war
I wonder if Hillary Clinton agrees with him on what he think happened in the 2004 Election.

Aside from her foolish vote to allow the war that he is firmly against and now has "the strength and experience to bring the war in Iraq to an end", that would be the question I'd ask him. I'd also make sure Carville was within earshot of the question to see the priceless body language.

63. Indeed a nice but nonetheless puzzling endorsement.
We can't continue to take two steps forward and one step back, something RFK Jr. talks about often, but it appears party politics trumps just about everything else RFK Jr. stands for. Kudos for the endorsement, but it doesn't make a lot of sense.

81. Perhaps some of us familiar with RFK Jr's stances are a tad wondering why
I guess we're bad people. I'm assuming there are Hillary fans just waiting to see who would dare make a comment...

I'll be in Iowa off and on for the next few weeks and will certainly try to see if I can see him speak and perhaps ask him about the election fraud in 2004 and whether he thinks his preferred candidate knows or cares...

77. Sorry, I've Always Admired Kennedy, Donated To His Causes Many
times, and cried for days after his father got killed, but this move truly TURNS ME OFF!

Guess it's POLITICS in the end... would that be ANOTHER Senator Kennedy?? Money & Influence, not what you know or what good will come from it, but WHO you know!!

I'm not going to trash him, but this really stinks! I guess some in Iowa will be turned off though, because of Teddy & Mary Jo, it could happen!

98. This is surprising & disappointing. Certainly would think he might support
Edwards or Kucinich on the environmental basis alone, since that is the topic RFK, Jr. is most passionate about.

Seems he should have just not endorsed anyone, unless it is a personal favor, or he is wanting her seat vacated for himself.

Still puzzling.

108. I went to grad school at UVa while RFK Jr was in law school there.
He was a mess. I'll never forget him after a house party driving his car into the garden and getting stuck. He wiped out the garden spinning doughnuts and covered everyone with mud. I heard that someone got the keys and drove him home.

I know he has done a world of good since then, but some images are hard to erase...

FWIW

I actually knew him in his messed up days prior to that. I'm not about to run around telling tales. He went through a lot of painful shit. He's hardly the only person to make mistakes and come out the other end a finer person.
