I am convinced that Barack Obama would be a great President.
I think any of our Democratic candidates, with the exception of Joe Biden, would be a great President.
Barack Obama offered a great message of Hope, with an eye toward the future, but I could not help thinking that all of the Democratic candidates, except one, live in a sort of alternate universe where they are actually certain that there will be an election, that it will be conducted fairly, and that Bush will voluntarily leave office should an election actually take place.
After Obama's speech, I spoke to the young volunteer woman who introduced him. I told her that I have no hope, and there is no future, so long as Impeachment is off the table.
I honestly do not think that we have until 2008 to save our country and save the world.
Joe Biden says he will Impeach Bush if he unilaterally invades Iran.
Well, if that's how Joe Biden plans to spend his last thirteen minutes on Earth, that's up to him.
Barack Obama would be a great President, but George W. Bush will be the last pResident we ever have if we act as if all we have to do is show up and vote.
So, despite some of his more loony ideas (lowering the drinking and voting ages and using Medicaid to give placebos to poor people) I'm still convinced Dennis Kucinich is the only candidate who gets it, has always gotten it, and is the only it-getter in the bunch.
But I don't see Dennis Kucinich as a Leader. Barack Obama is a Leader. Obama could be President. Kucinich could not.
If I could cram Dennis Kucinich's brain into Obama's skull, and smoosh those two brains together... now THAT would be a President.
Obama can lead. But Kucinich gets it.
Obama doesn't get it.
Anyway, here's some crappy cell phone camera video from the event.
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v653/ian02302/?action=view¤t=f43bc1ba.pbrI stood 45 minutes in line, outside in the cold.
And then I waited an hour and 15 minutes inside, to keep my spot two rows from the stage.
Despite how inspirational I found Barack Obama to be, I left filled with even more despair.
The people who think they know how to fix our country still believe that the Republick Party is allowing us to practice Democracy.
