Why did Nader Announce After Dean Dropped Out?
Is there a correlation?

I am not inferring that there is one, but it just occurred to me about the timing of Nader's announcement.

Maybe there's nothing to it.

I don't know where I'm going with this at all. Honest.

Just thinking out loud.

1. Nader
I think Nader had said before the Democratic candidate he liked was Dennis Kucinich.

Nader has had his "exploration" going on for over a month.

Although the timing is curious.

4. I Believe I Heard Him Say on Crossfire
If Dean or Kucinich were nominated, he'd leave it alone.

I'm assuming the Dem party has a strategy for dealing with Nader, else they wouldn't have ignored him and trashed Dean.

2. Suspicion
Nader is a magnet for a certain segment of voters.
It certainly looks like this is intentional.

I wonder, if the presidential race was easily going to Dubya, would Nader have jumped in? But since it's going to be close,,,,,Nader jumps in and tears away a segment of voters. Happened in 2000.

3. Good observation
He is capitalizing on the grief of Dean supporters, there is no doubt about it. His timing was no accident.

5. Nader's private polling must have convinced his finance group
that he would get just enough votes to make his campaign financially viable. (trans. Nader won't lose $, and he'll have something to do for the next few months.)

8. Yes, and it really had nothing to do with Dean being a liberal--he is NOT
as many lefties have pointed out, in VT, Dean governed as a conservative, and often spoke ill of the left.

6. Hard to say.
The correlation could be that both of them are losers. Of course Dean had alot more sucker money. Maybe Ralph could have spent it wisely.

10. In 2000, I almost preferred Nader...
In 2004, despite his monkey love of NAFTA and FTAA, I still vastly preferred Dean.

I'm much more worried about the NBD'ers (and the NBC'ers and the NBK'ers and so on)... I fear there are far more of them than there are Nader/Green supporters.

Why is Nader choosing to run? He's drunk for power as well.

I wish Perot or someone like him would run again and splinter the Republicans...

11. Actually....
Today is the Birthday of his last Presidential Announcement. THAT is why he announced today. I have a feeling he made up his mind a while back.

15. Nader said that if Dean was the nominee he wouldn't run.
On the Deanblog a few days ago, someone posted that her son who had organized the Nader 2000 campaign at a college asked Nader not to run for President.

Nader responded specifically that if Dean was the nominee he would not run.

Since Dean stopped campaigning Nader is in, which was obviously what was going to happen.

Whoever didn't see this coming was not paying much attention.
