Quinnipiac: Clinton Is Swing State Leader
Despite Oprah Winfrey's support for Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has overwhelming leads, especially among women, in Democratic primaries in three critical swing states, Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, according to Quinnipiac University's Swing State Poll, three simultaneous surveys of voters in states that have been pivotal in presidential elections since 1964.

In each state, Clinton is seen as the best candidate in either party to handle the immigration issue. By substantial majorities, almost 4 - 1 in Ohio and Pennsylvania, voters favor immigration reform that emphasizes stricter enforcement of laws against illegal immigrants rather than integrating illegal immigrants into American society.

And 20 to 25 percent of voters in each state would vote against a presidential candidate who disagreed with them on immigration policy, even if they agreed on everything else.

"These Democratic primary numbers are a good indication that despite the tight three-way race in Iowa, the fight for the nomination is not very close and that Sen. Clinton's lead remains very large and deep," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

The only person I saw Bill attack was an ethnic cleanser who had it coming... Let me guess... I'll bet you think Milosevic didn't have it coming...

6. you may have missed it. He attacked Iraq. bombs fell, people died
and his policy was officially "regime change" that he pursued with very deadly sanctions. tens of thousands dead. his sec of state said the policy of killing iraqi children was worth it.

then of course there is the Sudan pharmaceutical factory. It was finally acknowledged to be nothing more than that. completely destroyed. one person died in the bombing... but since it was one of a kind, thousands died because this vital resource was destroyed.

11. That 1 state is the one they're campaigning the most in
That should be a point of concern for Clinton supporters. Once the candidates start campaigning in those other states, the race will tighten there as well.

14. Or It Could Be IA And NH Are Highly Homogeneous States And Not Indicative Of The Rest Of The Countr...
HRC's base consists of African American, Hispanic, older, and working class, high school educated folks; folks that are notoriously absent from IA and NH... It's not a surprise that she does best in heterogeneous states like CA, FL, NY and to a lesser extent OH that look like the rest of the nation...

Obama's base is college educated elites... Too bad there aren't enough them to win a presidency... Presidents Stevenson, McCarthy, McGovern, Hart , Bradley, and Tsongas will tell you that...

19. Lots of "college educated elites" in Iowa?
Sorry, I don't buy that.
Obama draws support from the same group as Hillary's base. The reason he's getting more support early from these "college educated elites" is because they're paying closer attention at this point. Hillary's "base" may be with her now, but I suspect they'll abandon her once the election really starts and they get to know her opponents better.

13. Hard to believe the people in Iowa are so out of the loop
with the rest of the country. There must be a huge percentage of undecideds creating the 3 way dead heat.

I don't know why Iowa polls so differently than the rest of the country.

16. Because
Because it has less African Americans , Hispanics, Asians, and working class people than the rest of the nation... These are the groups that Hillary Clinton does well in... Iowa and New Hampshire are homogeneous states in an ever more heterogeneous nation...

22. The problem for Sen. Clinton is: in the primaries these big states are irrelevant
Its all Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. If the Clinton campaign didn't foresee this as a problem for them, it shows their lack of political savvy.
