Don't worry about Nader, help minimize his impact... |
|
Don't worry about Nader, help minimize his impact on the General Election. Counter any votes he might gain by taking votes away from the Republicans.
The Freepers are watching us closely, so I cannot go into much detail on these boards. However, we are planning to minimize Nader's vote by encouraging Roy Moore to run for President as a Constitutional Party Candidate. He is currently thinking about it. He's attending their events.
If you want to help us setup a Draft Roy Moore group, one that will eventually be transferred over to the Fundies, private message me. Our goal is to seek out Conservative Republican Christians who look at Roy Moore as a hero, and then get them to embrace a Moore candidacy. This group will do our best to show Roy Moore that there *IS* support for him to run for President.
Private Message me for more details. Do not worry about Nader he won't even be able to get on all that many ballots. If Roy Moore runs as a Constitutional Party candidate any vote Nader gets Moore will gather 5 times more in return, plus will be able to *AT LEAST* get on the ballot in 40 states (probably all 50).

4. Roy Moore just recently came to my county |

and spoke at a Constitution Party event. My area is very conservative, and he is popular here.

5. Yep. He's been attending Constitution Party Events. |
|
He's been acting more and more like a candidate. I think if we can drum up some support for him we might be able to influence his decision.

when Moore wields the full "moral majority" crowd's power and is the new Ralph Reid, who will thank you?
Turning our discredited enemies into more powerful, popular people strikes me as an absolutely piss-poor way to run a country.
Moore makes Ashcroft look like a Haight-Ashbury stoner. This kind of thing is like having a puppy that you're encouraging to nip at your siblings. You're teaching the puppy bad behaviour which, once the puppy is grown, will certainly cause the full-grown dog to bite you. Thanks, but no thanks.

I do not approve of the idea of accusing Nader for daring to break the two-party system. However, we must show him that while we are accepting of more than two parties, we are much more discretionary when we come to terms on when and how to exercise that luxury. 2004 is not the time. You can run, Ralph, but we won't vote for you.

12. Oh, THAT's effing special... |

Let's do something that'll give that religious nutjob MORE credibility down the road!!!
Ever hear of the term "cutting off your nose to spite your face"?
Moore is completely lunatic-fringe marginalized right now. It's in our best interest to make absolutely, positively SURE he stays that way. Giving him a forum to voice his idiocies (which resonate well with a lot of fundies) doesn't strike me as a way to do that.

15. That's exactly the point. |

Moore is a complete fringe lunatic that only appeals to fundies. He won't even resonate with Main Stream Christians, and on top of that he will LOSE creditability.
If he runs for President and then causes Bush to lose the election, he will have alienated the Republican Party. Any hopes of him taking office in *ANY* shape or form will be crushed. Do you think some people on DU hate Nader? Well you can add that Nader Hate plus the Republicans hatred for Bill Clinton together and you'll see the type of hatred Roy Moore will face.
Thankfully Moore and Nader have one thing in common: They both love the spotlight. Moore wants to stay in the news -- he wants to be talked about. He likes the publicity. It's intoxicating to him and makes him feel special. I am certain he is going to run for President for this very reason.

16. Let me ask you this.... |
|
Was Nader MORE or LESS effective after his 2000 run? More. He certainly got more press coverage, et cetera.
Did Buchanan get MORE or LESS press after his run? More.
Did Jesse Jackson GAIN or LOSE stature after his presidential run? He gained.
Did David Duke GAIN or LOSE points after his run in LA? He gained.
Encouraging lunatics is stupid, and doing so puts us ALL in danger.

13. Sorry, I don't think that's the way to go |

Not terrible interested in debating Nader. He's a spent force. Not interested in promoting Roy Moore. Let his fundies help him.
I am interested in sharpening my rhetoric skills (both written and verbal) to encourage Independents and Moderate Repubs and Greens to vote for the Democratic nominee.
IF anyone knows a website that gives pointers on how to be more effective in things like getting letters-to-the-editor published, or just one-on-one persuasion, I'd be interested in that.
