Dean's bat: Update

Less than 72 hours, and we're already in the halfway mark. The house parties for New Year's on the 30th will bring in more than 750,000 breaking the bat, just in time for New Year's, and YET another record-breaker!

Onwards to Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina. Victory is upon the people-powered Dean!

Not that it matters. I love seeing people organizing, rising up to beat Bush. This is exciting.

24. I think Clark had a longer period to raise his money
I think Dean is raising money are about three times the rate. Since some Clark supporter let us know last night that Clark supporters are more educated and make more money than Dean supporters (the reason they send larger donations)we can assume there are more people supporting Dean. But of course the polls tell us that.

I think the top number is this quarter, the bottom was last number.

They changed the goal to try and beat last quarter's total by the end of the year.

36. not the same bat - but the same goal
the new bat is the total so far this quarter - we have about 800k to meet last quarters fundraising totals - which is about what we had to meet to break the 1.5 mil bat. Actually, I believe they are setting the goal a little higher considering we were less than 800k from breaking this bat.

Anyway, I expect we'll beat last quarters total - and maybe by quite a bit - if the house parties bring in a sizeable amount.

14. Anybody Know What The Other Candidate's Average Contribution Is ???
Not trying to start a fight here, just wondering if all the candidates are getting about the same average doantion around the coutry, or if there is an extra infusion of money in large chunks going to the 'Dean-Alternatives'.

I'm serious, I haven't heard of any tallys of other candidate's average contribution rate. Dean uses it effectively as a 'Mr. Smith Goes To Washington' sort of thingy, which is alright by me.

23. YAY US!:-)
I'm really happy the donations picked up so much steam today. I figured they would after the holiday weekend, but I was still anxious to actually see it.

I don't like it, though, when they change the bat. I'd rather they stuck with the same bat, so it was easy to see that we will meet our initial goal, rather than having to figure out what number corresponds to the original goal.

I think it's possible. He's definitely going to beat last quarter's fundraising. He's the only one that's been in this for 4 quarters who keeps raising more money each time. How anyone can actually think anyone has more support or ability to beat Bush is beyond me.

41. Actually.....
.....as a Clark supporter, I'd like the same courtesy and respect paid to the person I support, as you would wish for the person your support. And part of that is realizing that Clark supporters, (and Clark, for that matter), are not Republicans, DINOs, or any other cute nicknames. We're Democrats, and we're here because we want to see our country rescued from the NeoCon junta that's occupied it since 2000. And we believe Clark is the Democrat to do that job.

This is weird. Every Dean supporter I know likes Clark as well, and would be willing to support him if he gets the nomination. Every Clark supporter I know, likes and is willing to support Dean if he gets the nomination. Ultimately, the goal on everyone's mind is ABB.

It's only here at DU do I see people who seem willing to let Bush win rather than vote for X, Y, or Z if that person gets the Democratic nomination. Are people so willing to cut the throat of America rather than vote for the Democratic nominee?

I would prefer to believe that the Dean and Clark supports I know, represent the true face of the voters supporting them, rather than the bitter, sour grapes, "If (fill in the blank) wins the nomination I'm not voting for him!" attitude I'm seeing here.

52. Seems that way sometimes
To my point of view, the only major differences in my support if Dean gets the nomination, is that I'll replace the Clark stickers on my car and the $25+ every two weeks will get sent to Dean rather than Clark. I certainly have no plan to not vote if Clark doesn't get the nomination - if anything I may work harder to elect someone that wasn't my first choice. But I'm getting tired of seeing the potshots from all sides here - it must be Rove's wet dream, but its not helping any of the nominess we support.

Thanks for your kind words. :-)
