It's just assumed that if something bad is done, Clinton is also involved. Even Katz, who some consider more reasonable than most, is vulnerable to it, as his post shows.

"The coming Oprah phenomenon on behalf of Senator Barack Obama is already having a ripple effect on rival campaigns. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is sending Bill Clinton here to South Carolina on Saturday, the day before Oprah Winfrey arrives. The former president has spoken here often on behalf of his wife and has proved enormously popular with South Carolina voters. And on a conference call today, supporters of former Senator John Edwards expressed dissatisfaction with Ms. Winfrey for coming here but not addressing issues like education, health care or poor conditions facing senior citizens."
I lived in South Carolina for 16 years and, even then, it was nice getting to see the candidates and, in this case, seeing celebrities would be nice. Nobody ever came to Texas from the Dem side.

This celebrity chyte, constant negative attacks, battling endorsements, rivaling bloggers, millions upon millions of dollars spent.. I can't keep up with who said what to who about whose ad and whose endorser is bigger and who gets the most coverage. It's dizzying. I'm just kinda glad I have a nice, quiet candidate that I don't have to spin in circles like a whirling dervish to keep up with. Bah...O8)

:sarcasm: People are NOT going to vote for "Barack Obama's friends" as your article suggests. They're going to vote for Obama. People may be drawn to see Obama because of Oprah but it's going to be Obama that will have to close the deal. And going by his appearance in Harlem where he changed "more than a few minds" in his favor, I'm sure he'll get the same reaction in S.C.

She is an awesome business person. She really knows her stuff and she is one tough cookie. No one gets over on Oprah.
However, she has no artistic talent of any kind. She's not a comedian. She has worked as an actress, but have you seen her work? She has no acting talent. She doesn't sing. She is not a particularly good interviewer.
When it comes to entertainment, she has no talent. Her talents have to do with her business skills. And she is good at spotting talent and getting them to appear on her show.

You're judging someone's post by how others respond to it. That's irrational, and the fact that s/he didn't "clarify" anything might mean nothing more than s/he has gone off to take a piss or eat dinner

18. Edwards comment about using her money in SC instead of another country will |
|
strike a nerve. It's her money and she should be able to use it as she sees fit, but JE's comments will resonate with a lot of people.
I'm still glad she's going on the road to support her choice. I actually like Oprah, though I don't agree with her candidate choice. Apathy is part of the problem in this country, and maybe a lot of the lookie-loo's going to see her will actually become involved in the process.

something good and positive could come out of Oprah's involvement just by awakening some of the walking brain dead to important political issues.
but wait, certain camps Rely on an ignorant populace, so that's why the screetching and whimpering 'no fair' crap and running down Oprah personally, imo.

wakes up to what is going on around them as a result of these gatherings, I'll count it as a victory.
As for the intense Oprah bashing, i'm still amazed by it. And i've been seeing it for a long time now...Would I prefer she was stumping for my preferred candidates? You betcha. :)
I don't think any celebrity endorsement will change enough votes to matter, but they can help open eyes. And thats nothing but good in my book.

Weren't they recently trumpeting the endorsements of Bonnie Raitt other entertainers? If they had Oprah's endorsement, they'd be doing the same. Hillary is smart enough to know that she'd look like a hypocrite and is staying away from this.
