I am totallly UNprincipled
When I went to my first Kerry meetup, I announced that I had been looking forward to supporting the Senator for President since his antiwar days when he became a hero of mine (side note on heroism: it all has to do with opportunity; most heroes only get to act heroic once in a lifetime; the fact that Kerry got to do it twice, once as a warrior and once as a peace activist is remarkable, and the fact that his 19 Senate years has been largely devoid of heroism is unremarkable). I also said that if he didn't show he could beat Bush, I'd give my time, my money and energy to the Democrat who showed he could. So if in the next week, John Edwards exposes Kerry's support as a mile wide and an inch deep and that his own appeal resonates with the majority of voters, this will be my agenda:
1. Time whining about Kerry being insulted as Bushlite, Senator Ham Sandwich, Foghorn Leghorn, etc.--0
2. Time whining about dirty intern smears and doctored photos--0
3. Time whining about the media, the DLC, the DNC, the PTA, the IRA, etc--0
4. Time whining about the need for a third party--0
5. Time granting supporters of other candidates an audience to convince me of voting for their guy--0
6. Time it will take to switch from supporting John Kerry, who I've admired for 30 years, to John Edwards, a guy I hardly knew existed a year ago--1 minute.

4. I'm with ya'
Except I'd disagree that his 19 years in the Senate has been devoid of heroism. Even Vietnam normalization took an amount of courage and heroism. If we can get JK into the White House so he can make sure it works, it could be a framework for peaceful transitions with formerly hostile countries. Truly heroic.

Still, time it would take to switch to Edwards - 1 second.
