This post is going to be a tough ride for Ralph Nader supporters, so don't say I didn't warn you.
You can delude yourself into thinking its because he has these high-minded ideals and principles, but the real reason for his candidacy is that he wants to keep his Bush tax cuts. He is a very well-to-do person and John Kerry has vowed to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy.
Ralph Nader's supporters can be broken down into two basic groups. On the one hand, you have overly idealistic young people with little understanding of what sells in Middle America, who are about as politically tone deaf as they come. They naively seem to think that white men in rural Tennessee and soccer moms in suburban Detroit can be persuaded to their point of view. Silly children. The other group, and there is some overlap here, you have well-to-do limousine Leftists who have never done anything real or sacrificed in their lives. They need a cause, something to give their lives "meaning". They often have nice Park Avenue penthouses, or ranches in Montana or houses in the countryside of quaint Vermont. They often have nice little trust funds to do New Age types of things like go backpacking in Europe, etc. They have the luxury of voting for a Ralph Nader because they don't have to live with the consequences of a Bush Presidency. That's just somebody else's problem. They live in places where they can shield themselves from the realities of the problems they profess to care about: gated communities, elite universities, Hollywood or Stepford Suburbia. They have the family connections so that it certainly won't be them or their kids who are drafted into George W. Bush's Imperial Army in 2005. They won't be the ones who go without health care. There is, of course, a reason why Ralph Nader polled poorly among non-whites, the poor and women: they had to live with the consequences of a Bush presidency. The latte-sipping, sushi-eating, body-piercing, Chomsky-reading, America-hating sycophants of this washed up figure from the 1960's and 1970's have no conception of the reality that the rest of us have to live in. They are either incredibly sheltered from the real world or hopelessly naive or both.

1. Or, you have option three.. |
|
..informed, leftist voters who find it inexcusable that a party representing leftist ideals would nominate a man for president who supported one of the most aggressive military adventures undertaken by the United States. I love the smell of false dichotomies in the morning.

although, I tend to think he's running because he thinks it's fun and has nothing else to do. He needs to get a life.

3. He needs to get a life? |

Is this the best people here can do when criticizing Ralph Nader? What is this, high school?

He's a Repuke. His life is now a total lie, and he's sold his soul to the devil, imho, of course.

6. I want him to know how much we hate him. |

Supposedly he's on the side of liberals and progressives. Well, most of us consider him a traitor.
