Nader would agree not to run if the Dems took up a progressive platform. The Dems still might run on a progressive platform. I doubt Kerry or Edwards would agree to Nader's demand - it would give him too much power.
I feel Nader stepped in to deflect some of Kucinich's support for the eventual Democratic nominee.
Now Nader can say, "All outsiders have left the race. Now it is between two insiders. They are the same. I am closer to Kucinich and Sharpton then the Democrats are. Vote for me."
