9. At least they got represented! |
|
I love the Dems, have no problem with aloof Kerry... ect. Nader has no endorsements, no money, no chance of winning. Why does he appeal to 3% of VOTERS (not population, voters)? Why are these three percent more interested in their issues then they are interested in removing Bush?

It is better to "represent " those issues and elect Bush. What happens then? Another 4 years of Bush is better than a little compromise toward left of center?

17. They are in a fantasy world. |
|
If someone lives in a state where a few Nader protest votes aren't going to change the outcome, then fine. But if they are in a swing state "representing the issues" needs to be done without taking votes away from the candidate who has a chance.
Nader's statement that he is running to insure that Bush won't be (re)elected PROVES this is a vanity run. How does one with no chance of being elected take votes away from someone who does have a chance, and still insure Bush is not (re)elected?

23. I believe the topic of conversation was issues, was it not? |
|
The article is pure horserace shit. We're talking about Nader's motivation for running, and I'm telling you that the majority of responders on the poll YOU started believe he is running based on his interest in the issues.
How does an article that doesn't even mention issues do anything to detract from that position? If the headline read "Nader chooses to run even if the Democratic Party builds a progressive platform" then you might have an argument.
How many times do I have to say it: All the Democratic Party needs to do to keep Nader from running is to act like the Democratic Party for a change.

In 1992 Perot took away from Clinton's votes. fact: 3rd party candidates help split all votes for any challenger to an incumbent.

As Mr. Nader said on MTP yesterday, the Democrats rate about a D+, while the Republicans are a D-. You could quibble that it's more like a D- versus an F, but Nader was completely correct on the basic concept.

28. To quote Shakespeare's quote of my most unholy self |
|
What fools these mortals be...
Some of you actually believe that Ralph Nader is a Republican? And that he's working for Bush??
Do you not pay attention to what the man says? He's speaking the truth about this corrupt corporatism that has taken over both parties.
That doesn't mean you have to vote for him, but if you don't take what he says seriously, even a mediocre corporate hack like John Kerry will look good compared to the outright fascist who will probably be the next "Demoncratic" nominee, at the rate this party is sliding into the abyss.

29. Call me hopelessly naive |
|
I've been called worse (I have taught in public school) but I can't but at least hope that Nader may be in it to draw some fire away from Kerry. Also, Nader's candidacy could help bring out the issues to perhaps another audience.
When I first read that Nader was considering a run, I was in total dismay but after thinking about it for a while, I began to see it in a totally different perspective.
If he were to run hard and ultimately endorse Kerry, it could be very good for the Democrats.
Note: By nature, I tend to look for the dark cloud behind every silver lining. For what it's worth...
