I don't think you should run for president unless you can win |
|
Does Nader think he has any chance in hell of winning?
I don't think he does.
Why is he running then?

But whatever the reason, he should not be prevented. You are treading on a very dangerous slippery slope by requiring "electability" to even be able to run for President.

4. we already require that |
|
they won't let you into the presidential debates unless you are polling at 15% to meet the viability threshold.
And without being in the debates, there's no real chance people will see you as legitmate and you won't win.

7. and without being let into the debates |
|
there is less chance of polling at 15 percent, which means you can't get into the debates, which means fewer people have a chance to see and hear you, and so on...
Why don't we just mandate 2 State Parties, one of whom every citizen must vote for, and for which refusal to do so will result in the loss of citizenship, property, and possibly the loss of one or more limbs.

3. Well then let's just abolish elections altogether .... |
|
I mean, they're such a waste of time, right ? Since only one person can win, and other candidates do nothing to shape the national debate, or allow voters to learn about alternatives to the 'frontrunner' or 'incumbent' or bring issues to the forefront or anything like that .....

I swear, nearly everyone at DU has had waaaay too much Kool Aid this weekend.
