'Earmarks' DOWN 33% under the Democrats in Congress
Edited on Thu Dec-20-07 04:42 PM by underpants
Earmarks in fiscal year 2008 appropriations bills total around $20 billion, which is down 33 percent from the $29 billion designated in 2006 spending bills.

BTW- earmarks are preferred because unlike grants they are a one-time lump payment and are not tracked.

1. You are ignoring the war earmark, which dwarfs everything else. And the
Dems have done nothing to rein that in.

2. They didn't give him the $148 billion he asked for....
Given that they've either been blocked or caved on everything to this point, it's a sign of progress.

8. The surefire way to end the war
is to put a Dem in the white house and increase our majorities in congress. It's the only way.

Cutting funding only works if the president is humane enough to bring the troops home. Bush is incompetent and Cheney is evil enough to let our troops get massacred and blame it on Dems. It's our job to make sure such people are never given this power ever again.

Biden's bill passed the Senate, and recently passed the House. It's heading for Bush's desk and I really wish a Dem were sitting in that desk. Don't you agree?

4. This thread should be getting more attention than it's getting
This clearly shows Republicans are the big spenders and Democrats need to talk about this until they are blue in the ears. If it had been the other way around I guarantee you the Republicans would NOT shut up about it.

When will be ever learn to toot our own horn and nail the Republicans when we have a golden opportunity.

This post should have 100 recommendations!

5. I gave it a rec. Democrats are more fiscally responsible than Repugs.
The past data shows it too. We believe in real fiscal restraint, not the magic tax fairy.
