Republican talking points re: Kerry |
|
I heard this on NPR this morning and again on a local news station.
Kerry voted for no child behind, IWR, patriot act now opposes all three. He says one thing but does the other.
Kerry has a distinguished military record and so does Bush.
It seems to me very easy for Kerry to debunk these and repeat it over and over and over until he takes the issues away from the Repugs.

No Child may have sounded appealing at the time, and it did promise a lot of money for education, and I do think we need to overhaul pub. ed.. But it has become another unfunded mandate from team bushwack and, hence, an utter disaster. Makes perfect sense for Kerry to be against it now.

The GOP hate machine is looking weaker and weaker. If this is the best they can do, Kerry will eat them alive.
Let us all give a nod to Howard Deanand Wesley Clark, who forced Kerry to grow some balls and go after the Shrub. I hope they and their supporters stick around to help finish the regime change they started.

But the fight isn't over, and we still need his help, particularly in fundraising.
The DNC should buy MoveOn's "Teaching Our Children" ad and run it in prime time every day until the election.

"Distinguished" is incorrect. Try "tarnished."

Military record is positive. His political record may be tarnished but not his military record.

Check this out; last night on CNN Kerry was already dismembering this trope:
"I don't know what the problem is that Republicans who never served in combat have with we Democrats who did."
Ouch. Too bad Shrub wasn't eating pretzels and watching.

5. They may be GOP talking points now, but these are issues that... |
|
were raised, and continue to be raise, during the primaries. Kerry is a shameless flip-flopper. Even Lieberman chided Kerry for trying to have it both ways on the war in Iraq.
These is why I think Kerry is not electable!
Edwards is the stronger candidate!

"Kerry voted for no child behind, IWR, patriot act now opposes all three."
Did he vote for all of these and then oppose them all later?
"He says one thing but does the other."
Well, it is going to be hard to defend voting for each of these, if infact that is the case, and then decide just months later that you suddenly oppose them all.
How will it be "easy" for Kerry to debunk - assuming that he did actually vote for them all and now opposes all 3? Seems to me it will not be so easy to debunk this line of attack at all.

Accusation: Kerry voted for no child left behind. Rebuttal: Bush gutted funding for his own program, making it a mockery.
Accusation: Kerry voted for IWR Rebuttal: He was lied to.
Accusation: Kerry voted for Patriot Act Rebuttal: He trusted the Administration to use it wisely. They violated that trust. e.g. inspecting anti-bush web sites.
Assertion: Bush has an honorable service record. Rebuttal: LOL
This stuff just writes itself. Send me more.

"Accusation: Kerry voted for no child left behind. Rebuttal: Bush gutted funding for his own program, making it a mockery."
A dungbeetle could have told you Bush wouldn't fund it. How is this a surprise. So your saying Kerry trusted Bush?
"Accusation: Kerry voted for IWR Rebuttal: He was lied to."
So your saying Kerry trusted Bush? Kerry voted for the IWR on the grounds that he trusted Bush? This is your rebuttle?
"Accusation: Kerry voted for Patriot Act Rebuttal: He trusted the Administration to use it wisely. They violated that trust. e.g. inspecting anti-bush web sites."
This is ridiculous. Kerry trusted Bush to use the Patriot Act wisely? That is the rubuttle? So Kerry voted for all three of these things because he trusted Bush? I'm sorry, this is not a particularly convincing series of rebuttles.
"Assertion: Bush has an honorable service record. Rebuttal: LOL"
Well, we all agree on this. And Kerry does have an honorable service record, but his time in the VVAW will not be popular amongst the American public once they hear what he said on record during that time.
